Position Summary: Learning Support Associates collaborate with classroom teachers and the Learning Services Coordinator to implement an academic support program for students in the lower school. The Associate assesses students’ learning needs; develops prevention and intervention strategies; provides academic support to meet needs; and monitors student progress.
Teacher Characteristics
Work one-on-one and with small groups to offer support or enrichment
Push-in to support students in class
Assist with benchmarking
Administer testing to students with accommodations
Hold before and after school help sessions as needed
Assist in replenishing benchmark supplies, inventorying leveled readers, creating literacy folders, etc.
Cover classes and lunch duty as needed
Craft lessons for individuals and small groups based on assessment data and changing instructional needs
Assist with selecting and implementing appropriate instructional materials
Collaborate with classroom teachers, the Learning Services Coordinator, and the Director of Primary & Intermediate Education to identify and meet the instructional needs of students
Assist with proctoring standardized tests
Maintain support logs
Execute associated duties such as morning care, carpool, lunch, and recess on limited basis
Requirements
Possess familiarity with multi-sensory phonics instruction
Possess a strong understanding of phonics, phonemic awareness, and reading comprehension assessments and instruction
Possess a strong understanding of the Singapore approach to mathematics
Analyze data, plan for, and implement data-driven instruction
Understand how to support a variety of learning differences
Possess a strong understanding of structured literacy, writing workshop, and developmental spelling

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Should be able to sit, squat, bend, and be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs
Job may require more than 40 hours per week.

May stand or work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time.
Work primarily in a traditional climate controlled classroom or office environment
