Falk Laboratory School, a coeducational K-8 school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, seeks one full-time School Nurse to care for students of all ages. The Falk School Nurse provides episodic medical care to students of all ages, facilitates positive student responses to normal development; promotes health and safety within the school; intervenes to address potential health problems through education and strategic planning; provides case management as needed; and actively collaborates with faculty and school leadership to build student and family capacity for self-advocacy and adaptation. This person will provide direct and consultative services in the school setting for diagnostic, preventative, and interventive purposes. This position will start August 15, 2026.
Responsibilities:
Provides episodic care and first aid to ill or injured students.
Communicates with parents as needed about a student’s health
Administers medication
Organizes and conducts annual health screenings
Prepares medical and other reports
Maintains student health records
Coordinates the student assistance program
Mentors University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing students taking part in clinical rotations
Serves on the Student Services Committee
Facilitates health and safety meetings
Schedules and organizes fire drills and other emergency preparedness drills
Co-facilitates quarterly emergency management team meetings with the Director of Administrative Operations
Serves as liaison between Falk School and the University of Pittsburgh Police Department
Prepares and teaches health-related lessons and trainings as needed
Provides assistance as needed to parents in locating and obtaining appropriate community services
Provides episodic care of adults such as staff, faculty, interns, and student employees
Maintains inventory of supplies
Reviews school policies, records and other information at least annually and updates as necessary

Knowledge of culturally responsive health practices
Knowledge of emergency preparedness procedures preferred
Experience as a pediatric nurse in a school setting preferred
