Position Description
Reporting to the Director of Cognition and Learning, the Director of the Assessment Center at Forman School is a key member of Forman’s leadership team, responsible for the overall functioning of the Assessment Center, including clinical operations and future vision. Forman seeks an experienced and innovative leader who will work with the Head of School, Chief Financial Officer, and the Board of Trustees to further refine and run a state-of-the-art Assessment Center. Building relationships with area schools and providers will be an essential responsibility in this particular position.
Reports to: Director of Cognition and Learning Annually renewable administrative contract
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and manage the clinical operations of The Assessment Center at Forman
Construct a template of the evaluation and report-writing process, and identify areas to continually increase the efficiency and quality of the product
Regular review of the testing report structure is needed to make additions or alterations to establish the Assessment Center at Forman is established as and remains a premier evaluation resource
Consistent and thorough tracking of evaluations and related services
Regular meetings with outside practitioners, schools, and/or community organizers to develop a robust community of referral sources
Regular meetings with the Head of School to determine needs for additional staff and to assist in hiring initiatives, as growth permits, to include, but not limited to:
Integration of Assistive Technology: Evaluative Measures
Inclusion of consultation with Speech and Language Pathologists on a consultant basis
Intersection with educators in the Cognition and Learning Department
Regular meetings with the Head of School and CFOO for financial reviews
Remain current in the knowledge and application of evidence-based treatment models and psychological testing instruments through attendance at at least two educational seminars or conferences per year. Complete additional reading of appropriate journals and books in the field of clinical diagnosis and treatment.
Maintain valid professional licensure and malpractice insurance
Serve as a member of a dorm family
Perform other duties as required
Consultation/Related Services
Consult with Cognition & Learning leadership to help bring research into practice across All Forman departments
Consult with the Office of Admission team:
As needed, review incoming applicants' evaluations and identify areas of need for specific follow-up, including but not limited to: consultation with outside treatment or evaluation providers
Identification of “gaps” in diagnostic history and/or proposals for additional testing, where appropriate
As needed, participate in meetings with parents and consultants regarding the goodness of fit for prospective students
Related services in support of the College Counseling Office
Complete the accommodations application processes for CollegeBoard (i.e., SAT and AP) and ACT exams
Assist graduating seniors in completing accommodations paperwork for college
Strategic Vision/Future Planning
Develop a strategic vision for the growth of the Assessment Center at Forman School
Collaborate with area graduate programs in psychology to establish training relationships, including practicum experiences, predoctoral internships, and postdoctoral fellowships
Develop a training program for predoctoral internships and postdoctoral fellowships with an effort toward APPIC accreditation when appropriate
Develop and provide supervision of individual practitioners in accordance with standards and guidelines set forth by practicum, internship, and postdoctoral requirements, as the growth of the department enables the integration of trainees
Regular and consistent meetings with assigned staff for supervision in either individual or small group settings
Educational and Experiential Background and Credentials
Doctoral Degree in Clinical or School Psychology
Connecticut License to Practice Psychology
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Familiarity with a wide variety of assessment tools appropriate for pediatric, adolescent, and adult populations
Proven ability to develop and maintain professional relationships across disciplines, including but not limited to educational consultants, advocates, private evaluators, and learning specialists
Managerial experience
