This position reports to the Athletic Director and aligns with First Baptist Academy’s mission of equipping students with the Truth of God’s Word while developing their character, intellect, and potential to Explore, Create, Challenge, and Lead.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serve as Head Coach for the 6th - 8th Grade Cheer Team
• Lead all daily practices, providing instruction and supervision for student-athletes
• Organize and manage team at all football games, pep rallies, and special events (i.e. Mini Warriors)
• Teach and develop fundamental cheerleading skills including motions, jumps, stunts, tumbling (if appropriate), and chants
• Instruct proper technique and form to promote safety and effectiveness
• Create and teach engaging, age-appropriate routines for games, pep rallies, and school events
• Implement progressive training plans that build strength, flexibility, and coordination
• Monitor individual athlete progress and provide feedback for improvement
• Choreograph halftime and sideline routines using music and visual formations
• Plan and oversee team logistics (practice plans, uniforms, game day coordination, equipment, etc.)
• Communicate effectively with players, parents, and the athletic department regarding schedules, team expectations, and student-athlete progress
• Maintain a Christ-centered, positive, and inclusive team culture
• Support athletic department events, such as pep rallies, service opportunities, and team chapels
• Model and uphold the mission of First Baptist Academy throughout all athletic involvement

QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong Christian character and commitment to spiritual leadership
• Coaching experience in cheerleading or participation at the high school, collegiate, or coaching level preferred
• Ability to plan and lead effective practices and skill development for middle school students
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Positive attitude and ability to connect with middle school students
• Willingness to work collaboratively with other coaches, faculty, and administration
• Must pass a background check and complete all required training (e.g., CPR/AED, concussion protocols)

TIME COMMITMENT

• Seasonal stipend position
• Daily after-school practices and all games during the fall season
• End-of-season competition (TBD)
