The Director of Enrollment will help shape and communicate the school’s value proposition, cultivate relationships with families and community partners, and ensure a seamless, student-centered admissions experience that reflects the heart of a Marshall education.
The Director of Enrollment is a collaborative member of the administrative team and plays a vital role in shaping the future of the school by leading enrollment strategy with vision, warmth, and integrity.
Primary Responsibilities
Strategic Enrollment Leadership
Design and implement forward-thinking recruitment, admissions, and retention strategies that align with Marshall’s mission, values, and long-term vision.
Serve as a visible and enthusiastic ambassador of the school to prospective families, educational consultants, feeder schools, and the broader community.
Supervise and support the admissions team to ensure an inclusive, personalized, and mission-aligned experience for all applicant families.
Lead efforts to track enrollment trends, assess yield and retention data, and generate regular reports for the Head of School and Board of Trustees.
Partner with the CFO to model tuition, financial aid strategy, and enrollment projections.
Collaborate with division heads to assess enrollment needs by grade level and to align messaging with academic programming.
Operational Excellence
Oversee all operational aspects of admissions including application processing, family communication, visit programming, and onboarding of new students.
Manage the admissions budget and maintain stewardship of the school’s enrollment systems and data (e.g., Veracross or equivalent).
Develop and maintain effective policies and procedures to ensure efficiency, equity, and clarity in the admissions process.
Identify and implement technology-driven best practices for digital outreach, communication, and data analysis.
Research and employee best practices in the field of enrollment management.
Global Recruitment & Community Engagement
Lead the recruitment of international students and serve as the school’s primary liaison with international partners and agencies.
Support the issuance of student visas by working directly with Homeland Security and maintaining SEVIS compliance.
Represent the school at fairs, conferences, and partner schools—domestically and abroad.
Build and maintain strong relationships with community organizations, international recruiters, and domestic outreach partners.
Partner with Advancement colleagues to help identify and cultivate prospective donors within the admissions pipeline.
The Ideal Candidate
Marshall School is looking for a leader who brings both strategic vision and relational strength to the admissions process. The ideal candidate will:
Be a warm and compelling storyteller who can communicate the power and promise of a Marshall education.
Be a data-informed strategist with an eye for growth and sustainability.
Be a culturally competent, equity-focused professional committed to expanding access and fostering belonging.
Thrive in both collaborative and independent work settings, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
Be excited to represent Marshall across communities—locally, nationally, and internationally.
Founded in 1904, Marshall School is an independent day school and international boarding school in scenic Duluth, Minnesota. Marshall is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of Central States and exists as a closely-knit community of approximately 400 students age 4 through grade 12. We believe in a welcoming environment of trust, creativity, and adaptability focused on development of character, high academic expectations, and supportive community - where highly-qualified staff have flexibility and freedom to meet each student where they’re at, and where every student is guided along their own individual journey to success.
