 THE OPPORTUNITY  
 Wilbraham &#38; Monson Academy (WMA) seeks an energetic and experienced Head Coach for Boys Varsity Soccer to take the program to the next level of competition. Housed within the Office of Advancement, and primarily reporting to the Director of Development, this multifaceted role combines alumni engagement, athletic leadership, and enrollment support to advance Wilbraham &#38; Monson Academy&#8217;s mission. This position is responsible for building a competitive, values-driven soccer program which supports recruitment and enrollment goals, while cultivating lifelong alumni connections through events, communications, and volunteer engagement to drive philanthropic support. This position requires a dynamic, relationship-oriented professional who thrives at the intersection of institutional advancement, athletics, and admissions. 
 &#xa0; 
 ALUMNI RELATIONS DIRECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES  
 Alumni Relations Outreach  
 
 Establish and build positive relationships with a wide range of alumni, locally, regionally and internationally to maintain engagement. 
 Maintain regular communication with a wide range of constituents through phone calls, direct mail, email blasts, alumni class notes, and eNews. 
 Lead alumni social media strategy across an array of platforms including, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram by creating content, community management, performance tracking, and alignment with advancement messaging. 
 Evaluate Alumni event effectiveness and gather feedback for continuous improvement. 
 Identify and develop new alumni event opportunities through targeted research, aimed at deepening institutional affinity and increasing year-over-year participation rates. 
 
 Advancement Support  
 
 Plan, coordinate and execute all aspects of Reunion, Alumni Games, and other alumni events held both on and off campus. 
 Lead the implementation and management of a strong volunteer network including class agents, Reunion volunteers, regional alumni associations and annual fund solicitors. 
 Compose and edit featured alumni profiles for Academy World alumni publication. 
 Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to coordinate networking opportunities with WMA community and alumni. 
 Serve as one of two Senior Class Advisors and support the transition of graduating students into engaged alumni through targeted communications and programming. 
 Manage an active donor portfolio of 30-40 individuals with the goal of sustaining and increasing their philanthropic support of the Academy. 
 Attend events on campus and regionally as necessary and as requested. 
 
 Community Engagement  
 
 Bridge the gap between campus and the alumni community that connects graduates back to WMA. 
 Represent WMA at community events, athletic competitions, and educational forums. 
 Build relationships with local organizations, youth programs, and community groups. 
 Participate in recruitment events and information sessions as capacity allows. 
 Assist in the development of strategies to market events to alumni, focusing on engaging new segments of the alumni population. 
 
 Professional Development and Collaboration  
 
 Participate in professional development opportunities. 
 Collaborate effectively with advancement team members and provide mutual support during peak seasons. 
 Synchronize seasonal responsibilities to balance coaching duties with alumni event cycle demands. 
 Contribute to positive team culture and institutional mission advancement.

 VARSITY BOYS SOCCER COACH RESPONSIBILITIES  
 Boys Soccer Coaching Leadership  
 
 Serve as Head Varsity Coach and assume full responsibility for the organization and administration of the boys&#8217; soccer program. 
 Prepare and conduct daily practices with comprehensive training programs, game strategies, and seasonal planning to develop competitive excellence. 
 Provide game day coaching and in-game leadership for all varsity competitions. 
 Responsible for team transportation to and from away games, maintaining required supervision and safety standards. 
 Lead, mentor, and empower assistant coaches to ensure a cohesive and high-performing program. 
 
 Program Development and Strategic Leadership  
 
 Develop and implement a comprehensive soccer program focused on returning the team to competitive prominence within the New England region. 
 Create appropriate practice plans, seasonal schedules, and long-term program development strategies. 
 Maintain knowledge of all league policies, procedures, and regulations. 
 Work with the Director of Athletics to prepare practice and game schedules and coordinate facility usage. 
 Ensure compliance with league regulations, safety protocols, and institutional athletic policies. 
 Represent WMA professionally at all athletic functions and in interactions with parents, officials, and community. 
 
 Student-Athlete Development Support  
 
 Instruct and demonstrate skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team development. 
 Support student-athletes with the college admission process and provide guidance on athletic recruitment opportunities. 
 Monitor academic progress for all team members and support student-athletes in academic success. 
 Enforce discipline policies, ensure appropriate rules and regulations regarding conduct are followed, while emphasizing sportsmanship, healthy lifestyles, and character development. 
 Stay current with soccer coaching techniques and athletic trends. 
 
 Athletic Recruitment and Program Promotion  
 
 Recruit talented soccer players through athletic recruitment networks, showcases, tournaments, and relationship building with club coaches. 
 Provide off-season program support and maintain year-round engagement with current and prospective student-athletes. 
 Respond to requests from media and prospective student-athletes regarding program information and opportunities. 
 Build and maintain relationships with club coaches, tournament directors, and regional soccer organizations. 
 Attend soccer games, showcases, tournaments, and recruitment events to evaluate and recruit prospective players. 
 
 QUALIFICATIONS  
 Experience:  
 
 Minimum 3-5 years soccer coaching experience at high school, club, or collegiate level. 
 Collegiate level playing experience preferred. 
 Prior experience in events management, alumni relations, or the educational sector is desirable. 
 Athletic recruitment experience highly preferred. 
 
 Coaching Certifications:  
 
 Maintain current coaching licenses and certifications. 
 CPR/First Aid certification required. 
 Willingness to pursue additional coaching education and development. 
 
 Specialized Knowledge:  
 
 Familiarity with fundraising and alumni engagement strategies. 
 Comprehensive understanding of soccer strategy, training methodologies, and player development. 
 Knowledge of athletic recruitment networks, showcase events, and club soccer landscape. 
 Understanding of the independent school environment and student-athlete experience. 
 
 Skills and Abilities:  
 
 Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, and organizational skills. 
 Excellent leadership and mentoring abilities with capacity to develop student-athletes. 
 Strong relationship-building skills with diverse families and athletic communities. 
 Ability to balance multiple priorities and manage seasonal workload variations. 
 Flexibility to work evenings and weekends for both athletic and alumni responsibilities as needed. 
 Ability and willingness to travel.

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS  
 Ability to move around a multi-building campus, including traversing long distances, using stairs, navigating outdoor environments, and uneven terrain. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach above the head or below the waist. Must be able to lift, push, pull, or move materials and equipment weighing up to 35 pounds. Capable of standing and sitting for extended periods of time. Must be able to communicate effectively and visually observe and assess activities and inspect equipment, as well as the ability to use hands and fingers to operate office machinery.

This role serves as a primary driver of alumni relations strategy, combining relationship building, fundraising, and donor stewardship to advance the Academy&#39;s mission and strategic goals. 
 The Associate Director will cultivate meaningful relationships with our diverse alumni community, drive philanthropic participation, and create innovative programs that engage graduates across all generations and geographic locations. 
 Working with regional, class-based, and reunion volunteers, the Associate Director will develop events, communication, and segmentation strategies and tactics to meet both dollar and donor goals. Personal cultivation and solicitation of assigned prospects and high-level volunteers is required, with a goal of 100 substantive visits each year. 
 Major Duties and Responsibilities 
 Alumni Engagement 
 
 Creates targeted strategies and programming to engage alumni personally through on-campus, local, and regional events and via digital communications and networks. 
 Attend and promote attendance of graduates at campus and regional events and networking events. 
 Assist in all aspects of volunteer management, including recruitment, training, and staffing, including reunion volunteers and Alumni Council members. 
 Serve as the liaison for all milestone Reunion classes. 
 Oversee transition of graduating class to alumni community, including &#8220;welcome&#8221; event/present and onboarding of graduating seniors to various alumni career networking platforms. 
 Partner with campus departments to facilitate alumni visits. Create alumni weekend programming. 
 Continually update/maintain alumni records via Raiser&#8217;s Edge via email/text/social. 
 
 Annual Giving  
 
 Assist the Director of Annual Giving to implement creative, multi-channel strategies to increase donors and participation in The Cushing Fund from all alumni classes. 
 Oversee senior class gift and student philanthropy programs. 
 Identify, recruit, and manage a small team of Cushing volunteers for The Cushing Fund (initial focus on milestone reunion years). Recruit/support members of the Alumni Council. 
 Qualify, engage, solicit, and steward young alumni prospects and donors with a goal of 100 substantive meetings annually to focus on growing the number of donors to Cushing Academy. 
 Work with the Director of Annual Giving to create and implement targeted content for alumni that aligns with institutional strategic priorities and key messages. 
 Assist in the production, mailing, and emailing of fundraising appeals as needed. 
 
 Event Coordination 
 
 Assist in the production, mailing, and emailing of alumni event invitations and reunion materials. 
 Develop comprehensive planning timetables and procedural guidelines for all aspects of events. 
 Work with colleagues to establish an annual calendar of events. (Determine event purpose, location, theme, and host in conjunction with the Director of Advancement) 
 Adhere to a budget, manage event finances, including check requests, invoicing, and reporting. 
 Work with colleagues and key external constituents regarding their participation in and/or attendance at events and coordinate schedules accordingly. 
 Identify event venues, negotiate space contracts, and book event space. 
 Manage staffing for all alumni events, ensuring adequate volunteer and staff coverage. 
 
 Alumni Communications 
 
 Collaborate with the Communications team to create targeted and compelling messaging for alumni audiences across print, email, web, and social media platforms. 
 Develop content that highlights alumni stories, achievements, and the impact of giving to strengthen affinity and inspire participation. 
 Maintain a consistent voice and tone in all alumni outreach that aligns with Cushing&#8217;s brand and fosters a sense of belonging. 
 Utilize data insights to tailor communications and ensure relevance to different alumni segments within the alumni population. 
 
 Collaboration and Administration 
 
 Partner with Advancement colleagues to align young alumni strategies with overall departmental fundraising and engagement goals. 
 Maintain detailed records of donor interactions, event attendance, and communications in the school&#8217;s CRM system. 
 Monitor and analyze performance metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of programs, adjusting strategies as necessary to achieve results. 
 Represent the Advancement Office at school events, alumni gatherings, and professional conferences as needed. 
 
 Bachelor&#8217;s degree required. 
 At least 2+ years of experience in independent schools or higher education, with a focus on alumni relations, fundraising, or student engagement; 10+ years of professional work experience preferred. 
 Must be proficient with the use of Microsoft Office / Google Suite, the internet, knowledge of Blackbaud and familiarity with fundraising and relational database software a plus, willingness to learn new systems/tools. 
 Demonstrated ability to use good judgment to handle confidential information sensitively. 
 Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, including an upbeat, collaborative approach to their work.
