Maret School is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Assistant Athletic Trainer to join our Athletics Department starting early 2026. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will work closely with the Head Athletic Trainer to provide high-quality care, injury prevention, and rehabilitation for student-athletes participating in all three athletic seasons. This position involves hands-on support for both upper school and middle school athletic programs and contributes to maintaining a safe and positive environment for all participants.
The work for this position will occur at both Maret’s main campus at 3000 Cathedral Ave. NW and its off campus athletic fields located in Chevy Chase DC.
This is a 10-month position, starting in mid-August and ending in mid-June each year. While work during the summer is not expected, summer contracted hours may be available for athletic training and health office coverage for student sports performance training programs and summer camps.
Key Responsibilities
Provide athletic training coverage for practices and games across fall, winter, and spring seasons for both upper school and middle school teams.
Report daily, prior to the start of middle school sports
Deliver onsite care at various competition fields, including Maret’s campus and Barrett Fields
Communicate effectively with the Head Athletic Trainer, Athletic Director, coaches, parents, and school personnel regarding injuries, return-to-play status, and ongoing care plans
Manage and implement inclement weather policies, including protocols related to heat, cold, and lightning
Oversee daily operations of the athletic training room, including injury assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, prevention programs, and accurate documentation
Maintain a safe, organized, and supportive environment for student-athletes
Be available to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, as dictated by practice and competition schedules during all three seasons
Qualifications — A successful candidate will have the following skills and attributes:
Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or related field (master’s preferred)
BOC certification and eligible for licensure in the District of Columbia
CPR/AED and First Aid certification (current and valid)
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a school athletic environment
Commitment to student safety, well-being, and professional standards of care
Competitive salary and benefits. Salary range is $65,000-$75,000, dependent on years of experience and qualifications. Salary will be prorated to the start date.
