Saint Xavier High School is excited to announce an opportunity for a dedicated and dynamic leader to join our athletics program as our next Head Football Coach. With a proud traditional that includes 15 state championships, St. X football is recognized for excellence, discipline, and a commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the field.
The Football Head Coach is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the St. X football program. The coach fosters a positive and competitive environment that develops student athletes’ skills, discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship, while supporting athletic excellence, academic achievement, and personal growth, in alignment with the mission and values of Saint Xavier High School.
Duties & Responsibilities
Lead, organize, and manage all aspects of the school’s football program.
Collaborate with coaches, parents, and student athletes to ensure program objectives reflect the school’s mission, values, and culture, fostering enthusiastic support and engagement from the entire school community.
Coordinate and oversee the recruitment, selection, supervision, evaluation, and development of new players and assistant coaches.
Develop student-athletes by teaching game skills and strategies, fostering a competitive spirit, promoting ethical behavior and sportsmanship, and supporting their growth as both players and leaders.
Work with the Executive Director of Athletics to prepare football practice and games schedules.
Design and implement game plans by assigning player positions and coordinating offensive and defensive strategies.
Ensure that all rules and regulations regarding athletic conduct and eligibility are clearly communicated and followed.
Engage with parents, alumni, officials, fans, and media to foster goodwill and support for the program.
Adhere to all school financial policies related to the collection and disbursement of money, expenses, and receipts.
Assume other responsibilities as needed as part of the school’s faculty.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree is required.
A minimum of five years of experience as a head varsity football coach preferred.
A valid First Aid Certificate from the American Red Cross, including CPR training.
Proven leadership and team-building skills.
Ability to mentor and motivate student athletes.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and colleagues.
This position requires a background check and completion of the Safe Environment Training course offered through the Archdiocese of Louisville before interacting with students.
