The Wardlaw+Hartridge School, located in Edison, New Jersey, seeks an experienced, dynamic, and resourceful College Counseling professional for a leave of absence position in our Upper School Division. The successful candidate will:
Be deeply committed to providing a individualized college counseling experience; addressing the unique needs and priorities of each W+H student and their family
Possess superior writing, editing, and communication skills to support seniors with supplemental essay review and editing, as well as interview preparation
Help to coordinate and execute in-person and virtual college counseling events
Send strategic, timely, and accurate communications to students and families regarding key deadlines and college-related updates throughout the admissions cycle
Co-facilitate the College Counseling Seminar for juniors, ensuring content is delivered in an engaging, informative, and clear manner
Collect, organize, and assess student assignments; maintaining detailed observational notes from meetings to support continuity of care for students upon transition
Proactively anticipate student needs and potential challenges, developing appropriate plans and resources to address them
Respond promptly and supportively to meeting requests and inquiries from students and parents, fostering a strong culture of accessibility and care
The selected candidate will serve as the assigned College Counselor to a caseload of between 25-30 seniors and juniors and participate fully in the life of the Wardlaw+Hartridge School, including effectively collaborating with colleagues and working to uphold the mission and vision of the school. Minimum Qualifications
All candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the school’s mission and core values of Integrity, Opportunity, Support, Diversity, Community and Sustainability.
A Bachelor's degree and prior college counseling experience, ideally in the independent school setting. A Master’s degree is preferred.
