The Savannah Country Day is seeking a recent college graduate for a Music Faculty Fellowship opportunity in the Lower School for the 2025-2026 academic year. The Lamar Kirkley Teaching Fellowship Program was established in honor of the over fifty year teaching legacy of SCDS faculty member and coach, Lamar Kirkley. The Fellowship Program provides recent graduates an opportunity to launch their career in education by gaining valuable classroom experience at Savannah Country Day School. The Lower School Music Fellow will be paired with the Lower School Music Teacher, who will serve as their mentor for the duration of the fellowship program. In addition to work in the classroom, Fellows will also be immersed in the life of the school outside the classroom, coaching interscholastic sports, leading clubs, and/or leading or assisting with other student activities. On-campus housing, to include provided utilities is available for Lamar Kirkley Fellowship Program participants. Typical duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Shadowing the mentor teacher, while learning classroom management, instructional techniques, and methodologies.
Providing music instruction to students.
Evaluating students’ academic progress and performance.
Assisting with student activities, which may include extra-curricular activities.
Physical Demands Work is typically performed in a classroom environment with intermittent sitting, standing, or walking in various settings. The employee occasionally lifts or carries objects of a light-medium weight, up to 25 pounds. Full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes.
