Ensworth School seeks a dynamic and intellectually engaging teacher to join its high school Science and Math Departments. Strong candidates will have demonstrated abilities to develop strong relationships with students and colleagues and to collaborate within and across their disciplines. A love for teaching high school students is essential to this position, as are the abilities to align teaching and learning to Ensworth’s Core Skills Framework, flexibility in teaching multiple levels and courses within the disciplines, and the capacities to adapt to new technologies and create experiential, STEM-based learning opportunities.
The ideal candidate will have experience teaching a range of math and science courses, including physics and chemistry. The ability to develop curriculum, plan lessons, manage a lab safely, provide differentiated instruction, assess student progress, integrate educational technology, and facilitate inquiry-based learning is essential. Applicants should hold a degree in math, physics, chemistry, or a related field, and multiple years of teaching experience at either the high school or college level are preferred. While the primary professional responsibility of an Ensworth faculty member is to conduct the School’s curricular program, this instructor will also serve as a student advisor and have co-curricular, extracurricular, complementary, and professional responsibilities as articulated in the Ensworth Employee Handbook.
Ensworth is a kindergarten through twelfth grade, coeducational independent school. The School promotes academic excellence and inspires students to be intellectually curious, to use their talents to the fullest, to be people of integrity, and to be contributors to society. The school’s challenging academic program is embedded in a culture of support and encouragement and reflects a commitment to the core skills of observation, collaboration, communication, analysis, questioning, evaluation, and most importantly, the application of knowledge. Graduates have the adaptability, resilience, and resourcefulness necessary for success in the 21st century and are not only prepared to meet the demands of the future but are also imbued with a sense of purpose and service to others. Ensworth School is an extraordinary place to work and seeks employees who are passionate about learning and motivated by the opportunity to awaken that passion in students.
