Position Overview: Seacrest is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Gifted and Talented Teacher who has advanced knowledge of working with highly capable students in grades K-8. The ideal candidate will demonstrate commitment to educating the whole child through learner-centered pedagogy, an inquiry-based curriculum, and alternative assessments, while nurturing students' intellectual, personal, and social development.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a rigorous, enriched, and differentiated curriculum tailored to the needs of gifted students in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade
Provide direct instruction to identified gifted students through pull-out, push-in, and specialized classes, focusing on advanced content, critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving
Design and update instructional materials and lesson plans that incorporate project-based, interdisciplinary, and inquiry-based learning approaches
Collaborate with classroom teachers to modify and differentiate curriculum and instruction for gifted learners within the general classroom setting
Programming and Enrichment:
Develop and coordinate enrichment opportunities, such as advanced coursework, research projects, extracurricular activities, and competitions
Create and evaluate programming to meet the diverse needs of gifted and twice-exceptional students
Foster an environment that encourages intellectual risk-taking, creativity, and social-emotional development
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with general education teachers, school counselors, administrators, and other specialists to support gifted students
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, program options, and strategies for supporting gifted learners at home
Serve as a liaison between the school, the district's gifted program, and external agencies or organizations
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education or related field required; Master's degree and/or Gifted Education endorsement
Valid teaching license with appropriate endorsements for gifted education
Minimum of 5 years' teaching experience with gifted or exceptional students
Demonstrated knowledge of gifted education pedagogy, curriculum design, assessment, and differentiation
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Desired Skills and Attributes:
Expertise in designing and implementing differentiated and interdisciplinary instruction
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
Commitment to equity and inclusion in gifted education, including advocacy for underrepresented populations
Flexibility, creativity, and passion for supporting the unique needs of gifted learners
Understanding of the social-emotional needs of gifted students and the ability to implement appropriate support strategies
