Job Title: Biology Teacher for the 2026/2027 school year
Reports to: Head of Upper School
FLSA Status: Exempt
Duties/Responsibilities:
Teach sections of Biology, AP Biology, and Health
Develop and teach 1 or 2 electives related to the biological sciences, such as Anatomy & Physiology, Ecology or Environmental Science, Psychology, Medical Terminology, etc.
Serve as an advisor for a small group of upper school students
Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and maintain records of grades
Assume the responsibility for overseeing student behavior in the classroom, during lunch and activity periods, and in all school settings
Interact in a professional manner with colleagues, students, and parents
Follow all policies, rules, and procedures to which teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates

Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree a plus
At least two years of classroom experience in Biology or a related field
A proven commitment to the development of young people as individual learners
A track record of collaboration with colleagues
CPR certification preferred
Physical Requirements with or without accommodations:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach.
Must be able to lift or move up to 40 pounds at times.
Must be able to traverse classroom and adjust one’s tone and height, by bending, leaning, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling in order to teach each child.
Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
