Chatham Hall seeks a passionate and collaborative Dance Instructor and Dorm Advisor for the 2025–2026 school year. Chatham Hall—a girls’ grades 9-12 boarding and day school in southern Virginia—has been a leader in educating girls since 1894.
The ideal candidate will have experience teaching various levels of dance, a strong interest in supporting the residential life experience of high school girls, and be able to teach Spanish. This position is an exciting opportunity to engage students both in the studio, on campus, and in the classroom, helping shape a vibrant, inclusive, and holistic learning environment.
Dance responsibilities include teaching multiple levels of dance, choreographing for school performances, and attending rehearsals and events. The instructor teaches classes Monday through Friday from 3:45–6:00 p.m., with flexibility for evening and weekend performances and rehearsals.
Additional opportunities may include teaching 1–2 sections of Spanish and/or supporting yoga instruction if qualified. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Dance, or enrollment in the final year of a BA dance program is required.
Dorm advisor responsibilities include fostering a welcoming and supportive dormitory environment for students, participating in weekend duty responsibilities, and supporting community-building efforts in the residential program.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in a high school or youth-focused setting
Ability to teach beginning to advanced dance levels
Spanish fluency or teaching background (Spanish 1 or Spanish 2)
Yoga certification preferred
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Passion for working with adolescents in a residential environment
