Bosque School, a co-ed independent day school in Albuquerque, New Mexico, seeks a dynamic and experienced heritage and second language Middle and Upper School Spanish Teacher, to begin August 1, 2025.
Bosque School offers both Spanish as a Second Language and Spanish for Heritage Learners programs, and our ideal candidate would be qualified to teach both types of classes. We seek candidates who are passionate about working with students in their middle and upper school years, have a love of the Spanish language and culture, and are innovative and knowledgeable about second language acquisition and heritage language teaching. Ideal candidates will also have a deep understanding of how to scaffold learning and support students at different grade levels and with different learning needs. Candidates with a strong background in curriculum development that values student inquiry and experiential learning are especially valued at Bosque. We value community and seek candidates who have excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills and who will work well with students, colleagues, and parents.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Create a safe, student-centered, rigorous, and nurturing learning environment for all students.
Demonstrate a deep love and understanding for teaching students in a secondary school setting.
Teach middle and upper school Spanish for both second-language and heritage learners.
Serve as a faculty advisor to approximately 10-12 upper school students
Participate in faculty meetings and ongoing professional development
Collaborate within the Spanish department, grade level faculty, and other faculty groups in cross curricular inquiry projects
Demonstrate a commitment to working with culturally diverse students, families, and colleagues and contributing to building and maintaining an inclusive community
Provide extra help for students, including being available during office hours/homework cafe/non-teaching periods to meet with students
Keep parents informed in a timely manner if a student is below academic or behavioral expectations following divisional expectations
Participate in parent/guardian conferences and parent/guardian programs at school
Adhere to internal and external school communication guidelines
Work with colleagues to create and/or support a two and a half week immersive course to be offered to students in May 2026.
