POSITION SNAPSHOT
Start Date: As soon as possible - This position is through June 30, 2026
Salary: $85,000-100,000 (salary is based upon but not limited to factors including years of experience, education level, and expertise)

The Assistant Director of IT at St. Luke’s School is responsible for supporting the Director of IT in leading the strategic and operational management of technology systems throughout the School. This includes overseeing infrastructure, academic technology, cyber security, user support, and data systems. Additionally, this role requires a service-oriented team player approach, rooted in both technical expertise and a collaborative mindset, ensuring technology enhances teaching, learning, and administrative operations.
EXPECTATIONS
Assistant Director of Technology (Interim)
Systems Administration & Network Management
Manage and support Windows Server and Active Directory environments.
Work with St. Luke’s School’s Managed Service Provider (MSP) to configure and maintain network infrastructure, including switches, firewalls, and wireless systems.
Oversee data backups, disaster recovery, and cybersecurity procedures.
Implement and document system updates, upgrades, and maintenance schedules.
Manage and support the school’s phone system, including configuration, troubleshooting, and vendor coordination.
Support and maintain the school’s security and camera systems, ensuring consistent operation, system integrity, and integration with network infrastructure.
User Support & Device Management
Provide Tier 2–3 technical support for faculty, staff, and students.
Manage deployment and configuration of Windows, iPad (Meraki System Manager experience a plus), and Chromebook devices .
Administer Google Workspace for Education.
Utilize N-able for endpoint monitoring, patch management, and asset tracking.
Support classroom technology, audio/visual systems, and printing infrastructure.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
Enforce cybersecurity policies, endpoint protection, and access controls.
Support multi-factor authentication (MFA) solutions such as Duo.
Conduct user training on digital safety and data privacy.
Collaborate with the MSP and Director of Technology to maintain compliance with data-protection standards.
Respond to and document security incidents and system alerts.
Academic and Administrative Systems
Manage academic technology initiatives to enhance teaching and learning across St. Luke’s School.
Partner with faculty, the tech integrator, and curriculum leaders to integrate technology effectively into instruction.
Provide professional development and technical training for teachers.
Present technology topics to faculty, staff, and students, including at meetings, assemblies, and school-wide events.
Research, evaluate, and recommend new educational technologies.
Work with staff on the Veracross system to optimize functionality, workflows, and reporting to support academic and administrative needs.
Project Management & Leadership
Implement strategic plans for school initiatives involving technology, ensuring alignment with St. Luke’s School’s mission and long-term goals.
Collaborate with academic, administrative, and operations teams to implement new systems, software, and infrastructure upgrades.
Participate in strategic planning, helping align technology initiatives with the school’s mission and long-term goals.
IT Procurement, Inventory, and Vendor Management
Maintain an accurate inventory of technology assets and oversee lifecycle management.
Coordinate with the Director of Technology on budgeting and purchasing priorities.
Ensure cost-effective procurement aligned with the school’s technology strategy.
Audio-Visual & Event Technology
Oversee audio-visual setup and support for assemblies, performances, and community events.
Maintain and manage A/V systems to ensure high-quality, reliable operation.
Present and support live demonstrations, assemblies, or community presentations involving technology.

Participate in and attend faculty/staff meetings and committees, including school-wide initiatives about issues of equity, pedagogy and curriculum.
Participate in the life of the school, including attendance at required events such as curriculum night, parent conferences, grade-level cocktail party, Christmas Fair, Spring Benefit, and school games and events.
Enforce school policies and rules with students.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite Faculty members also need to be proficient with Google Classroom and have the ability to use classroom technology such as Smart Boards, Zoom, etc.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT management, including systems administration, network management, or technology leadership, with at least two years in a supervisory capacity.
Experience in K-12 institutions (an independent school environment) or higher education
Certifications in technology (e.g., CISSP, CCNA, Server+, Network+) and project management (e.g., PMP) are a plus.
Strong experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP, and routing principles.
Experience with or knowledge of Meraki System Manager, Google Admin Console, Veracross, SentinelOne, Aruba Central, and N-able preferred.
Experience managing PBX or hybrid phone systems.
Experience with or knowledge of VMware or other virtualization technologies.
Familiarity with audio-visual systems and event technology.
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage complex projects impacting multiple constituents and prioritize clearly with a sense of urgency and effectiveness.
