Who we are:
Temple Israel Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC) is a welcoming, loving and nurturing play-based community. Our progressive program is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, by the Project Approach and steeped in a deep understanding of child development.
As we listen to the children’s ideas, we build our curriculum. We work collaboratively with our students to create longer term projects and investigations around these ideas - delving deeper into what interests the children in our classrooms. We carefully integrate our goals for each child into our studies, so that every child is nurtured, supported and challenged. We are a community of learners where children, parents and teachers work as partners in joyful experiences that encourage the development of knowledge, self-esteem and a deep commitment to the community.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development: working in teaching teams to observe, document and analyze children’s areas of interest and curiosities. Using that information in weekly planning meetings to reflect on classroom activities and craft age-appropriate studies that build on observations.
Relationship with Families: communicating regularly with families through our app – Remini. Producing three entries per week, including one blog post. Creating respectful partnerships with parents to meet the needs of each individual student.
Interacting with Students: Modeling respectful communication amongst teachers and with children. Providing engaging, open ended activities. Supervising daily activities in classroom. Managing transitions. Providing each child with individual attention. Monitoring growth and developmental milestones.
Key Competencies:
Warm, nurturing demeanor with an ability to connect to young children and parents
Proficient in the many languages used in an early childhood classroom
Positive attitude and collaborative nature
Eager to participate in professional development and ongoing learning
Head Teacher: MA in Early Childhood (or in progress).
3-5 years professional experience working with young children, preferably in an early childhood setting.
About Temple Israel Early Childhood Learning Center
The primary goal of the Temple Israel Early Childhood Learning Center is to facilitate, strengthen, and encourage the healthy social, emotional, intellectual, physical and spiritual growth of the young child. We strive to provide a program that is developmentally appropriate for the age range of the group and for the individual child. The program offers many opportunities for play and active exploration within a clearly defined, challenging, non-competitive and nurturing environment. We believe that young children learn best through play and that the primary role of the teacher is to support each child’s play, so that it becomes as constructive and elaborate as possible.
