The Upper School STEM teacher will be responsible for providing a student-centered, supportive approach in science instruction for students in grades 9-12.

• Provides direct instruction to students in science.
• Plans and executes laboratory exercises while maintaining all safety regulations and precautions.
• Performs periodic checks of safety equipment and laboratory tools. Alerts appropriate faculty and maintenance staff concerns or needs.
• Courses for this position could include Science, Math, and Technology classes.
• Develops an ongoing working knowledge of each individual student’s educational and emotional needs.
• Effectively collaborates with learning specialists to integrate recommended teaching strategies into content area classes.
• Communicates with parents to address learning concerns of students.
• Provides individual student assessment as needed.
• Shows evidence of adapting and differentiated instruction for all students.
• Maintains complete and accurate records that are reflective of a student’s performance and growth in knowledge.
• Develops and maintains genuine, positive, and consistent communication with parents.
• Contributes to and benefits from the campus community.
• Practices professionalism through ongoing professional development, reflection, and continuous improvement.
• Participates in curriculum writing and other developmental programs and activities.
• Remains current in knowledge of the STEM world.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Education or related field is required for consideration.
• A 9-12 Science / Math teaching Certification. 
• A plus:
• STEM related experience.
• Special Education Teaching Certification and/or Reading Specialist Certification.
• Experience with students with learning differences and ADHD is a plus as well as mentoring experience.
• Responsive Classroom Experience
• The ideal candidate is outgoing, well organized, competent in basic computer skills, and is an individual who is eager to work in a highly dynamic, energetic school setting
