At TCS, we are a group of highly motivated and enthusiastic educators who believe that how children learn is just as important as what they learn. We engage students in inquiry- and project-based lessons with ample opportunities for teamwork, collaboration, problem-solving, and reflection. Our classrooms are filled with curiosity, joy, celebration, grit, and creativity — all which create a contagious love of learning and highly intrinsically motivated students (Take a look at Cooper life here.)
We believe that it is important for students to communicate ideas and transfer their learning to a wide range of contexts clearly and effectively. We also believe that students should develop not only their logical, critical, and creative thinking skills, but also their confidence, perseverance, and independence.
Our ideal candidate will be prepared to engage students to learn to think like scientists and demonstrate the fundamentals of inquiry, research, and study skills. Qualified candidates will be able to teach all aspects of middle school science curricula including biology, chemistry, physics, and life science, and in accordance with National Science Standards.
Candidates should have experience teaching through inquiry, constructivism, choice, and collaborative learning, and be able to demonstrate flexibility, creativity, enthusiasm, professionalism, and an understanding of the unique needs of Middle School students. The Cooper School sets high expectations for students and teachers and continuously supports their growth along each step of the way.
We invite you to apply for this extraordinary opportunity in which you will receive both support and autonomy in building and shaping the Science lessons, scope, and overall middle school program at The Cooper School. You will be welcomed into a tight-knit community of driven colleagues, joyful students, and supportive parents.
