Reporting to the Lower School Head, The Calverton School in Huntingtown, Maryland, is seeking a full-time Lower School Third Grade Teacher for the 2026–27 school year. This individual will be responsible for developing, implementing, assessing, and modifying as needed a dynamic, student-centered third grade classroom aligned with Calverton’s mission, values, and strategic vision.

• Teach a class of up to 18 students
• Demonstrate experience and a passion for working with elementary-aged students while supporting their academic, social, emotional, and ethical development
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students and demonstrate an understanding of learning differences
• Create a caring classroom community through meaningful relationships with students and families
• Provide engaging, student-centered learning experiences that promote inquiry, creativity, skill development, and confidence-building
• Establish classroom systems and structures that maximize student engagement and learning
• Promote principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging through curriculum and classroom culture
• Assess student understanding through a variety of assessment methods, including project-based learning, and communicate progress effectively with students, families, and administration
• Engage actively in professional development opportunities and demonstrate a commitment to growth and best practices in education
• Attend divisional, departmental, and all-school faculty meetings, including professional development days
• Participate broadly in the life of the school through attendance at school events, activities, and community functions
• Collaborate closely with colleagues across divisions and departments to support student success and school initiatives

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
• Elementary teaching experience preferred
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Commitment to building positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
• Demonstrated ability to create an engaging and supportive classroom environment
• Enthusiasm for independent school education and experiential learning
