 The Kindergarten Assistant / After School role is a hybrid role with the hours of 8:00am-4:00pm, straddling our regular school day and our After School Program.  Position Summary

 THE POSITION The Lower School Associate Teacher Program is typically a two-year experience at Brooklyn Friends School and is an essential part of the BFS learning community. Associate Teachers receive exceptional training for their eventual role as Head Teachers or other lead positions in a 2s through 4th grade&#xa0; setting (i.e. math specialist, literacy specialist) while also providing BFS students with a high level of both care and instruction. The LS Associate Teacher role allows for more individualized attention, small flexible groupings, and an infusion of current best practices in 2s-4th grade classrooms.  Daily Responsibilities: 
 Our teachers work together: 
 
 Developing lesson plans 
 Meeting the individual&#39;s needs of the children 
 Parent communication 
 Participation in staff and training meetings 
 Designing an appropriate room arrangement to support the goals and developmental level of the children in the classroom 
 Interacting with the children to support play, exploration, and learning 
 Presenting expectations that are appropriate to the child&#8217;s age and developmental level 
 Planning and implementing activities that develop self-esteem and social skills 
 Communicating appropriately and professionally with parents and fellow staff 
 Building teamwork 
 Using assessment tools

 At least 2 years of experience of childcare 
 Bachelor/Master Degree or study plan in Early Childhood Education, Childhood Education or related field 
 Background check completion 
 Trainings include: Foundations, SIDS, Mandated reporter, head trauma, family engagement
