The Storm King School is an 8th-12th grade, co-educational, college preparatory boarding/day school of 175 students. Our students come from throughout the US and 25 countries. We are located in the spectacular Hudson Highlands, overlooking the Hudson River and surrounded by 6,000 acres of green space made up of Black Rock Forest and Storm King State Park.
We are seeking a Teacher for English Language Learners (ELL) program. The ELL Teacher will be responsible for teaching students in grades 8-12 with intermediate proficiency in English, with the goal of preparing and transitioning them to their next stage of language development. The instructor will partner with colleagues and the ELL Department Chair in developing, coordinating, and implementing the curriculum while maintaining effective instruction and English proficiency assessment of all ELL students.
Key Responsibilities:
The ELL Teacher will teach four sections, coach two seasons, and participate in our student residential life program.
Our ELL classes range from eighth grade through senior level and advanced classes. Class subjects will include English Literature, Conversation, and Composition. Other duties will include supervising weekend and after-school assignments, coaching sports, and supervising clubs when needed; attending parent/teacher meetings; attending faculty/staff meetings and other school events as required; and driving groups of students as needed for athletics, weekend, or other activities. On-campus housing is not currently available for this position.

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred; candidates with certification and/or training in teaching ELL preferred
Two years of experience in instructing and designing lessons for English Language Learners
Ability to adapt instructional approach to meet the learning needs of a range of students
Excellent communication skills
Excellent cultural competency and experience working in an internationally diverse community of colleagues, students, and parents
New York State Driver’s License required; it can be acquired shortly after being hired
Successful completion of background check
Salary and Benefits: The salary range for a full-time position is between $42,000-52,000 depending on experience. A full range of benefits are included.
