Position Summary
The Administrative Assistant will serve as the first point of contact for the Lower School. The position will be responsible for supporting the Director, Deans, and faculty with their daily needs, receiving visitors, and answering phones. This is a 12 month, full-time position, Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm. The Administrative Assistant reports to the Lower School Director.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform general office duties including, but not limited to:
Serve as the receptionist, including greeting and directing visitors and answering or returning phone calls
Engage with students, faculty, staff, and parents in a positive and professional manner
Provide proactive and responsive clerical and administrative support to the Lower School Director, Deans, and faculty as requested
Assist with special projects
Operate office equipment such as copiers and phone systems and arrange for repairs as needed
Perform clerical assignments involving word processing, data entry, report preparation, and scheduling
Maintain complete and accurate paper and electronic files
Handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a High School Diploma or equivalent and at least three years of experience providing administrative support, preferably in an educational setting.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and possess a willingness to learn new systems and web tools. Experience with Veracross and Canvas is a plus.

Detroit Country Day School’s facilities are situated in two locations approximately three miles apart and less than one half hour from the center of Detroit. The Detroit Country Day Upper School offers a strong and varied program that provides numerous opportunities for students to demonstrate their individual strengths and develop their potential. The rigorous college-preparatory program, which includes Honors and Advanced Placement courses in each discipline in addition to a diverse selection of electives, prepares students for college and beyond. In addition to a series of honors and Advanced Placement courses, students at Detroit Country Day Upper School may pursue an International Baccalaureate Diploma.
