The Jackson Hole Community School will be launching our new 6th-8th-grade Middle School division for the 2026-2027 school year, offering families in the Jackson community an education option that is grounded in our Middle School Purpose and Promise statement:
All middle school-aged children deserve a safe and inclusive school that helps them become competent and confident individuals who feel a sense of agency, are proud of who they are, are optimistic about their future, feel connected to those around them, and are prepared to succeed in our ever-changing world.
A small, independent 6-12 school, JHCS “prepares students to succeed in college and life, through challenging academics and excellence in teaching, in a community founded on personal relationships, student initiative, and integrity” (JHCS Mission).
We are currently seeking an energetic, experienced, and team-oriented Middle School Spanish teacher for a full-time position that starts in August 2026. JHCS emphasizes the “community” aspect of its culture and seeks candidates who are interested in committing to its vibrancy and success. Faculty members are highly collaborative individuals who are eager to offer ideas, engage in discussion, and focus on generating and improving the learner experience. We expect that each employee will operate at a superior level and offer their services broadly to serve our students and the school community at large.
This Middle School Spanish position involves teaching 4 sections(approximately 14 students per section). The ideal candidate is an educator who can ignite a passion for language and culture, focusing on communicative proficiency and global awareness. This individual will have the ability to teach three distinct levels of introductory Spanish and contribute to a vibrant, inclusive learning environment:
Spanish 1A:
Establish foundational communicative abilities across all three modes (Interpretive, Interpersonal, Presentational).
Emphasize high-frequency, basic vocabulary and early, critical comparison of Spanish-speaking cultures' products and practices.
Spanish 1B:
Build a strong foundational ability to communicate in Spanish in all three modes.
Focus on active communication and conversations, reinforcing grammar and structure, and expanding common vocabulary.
Spanish 1C:
Ensure mastery of core grammatical and structural skills, as well as functional communication and vocabulary skills.
Deepen student development in all three modes, with a strong emphasis on analysis and articulation of social/cultural issues and developing an understanding of global issues within the Spanish-speaking world.
Other responsibilities of a full-time teacher include:
Serving as a student advisor
Communicating with colleagues, parents, and students in a timely and proactive manner
Attending all faculty/staff meetings
Attending occasional evening school events
Taking part in school trips
Offering student clubs or activities that cater to the interests and enjoyment of middle school students
Minimum requirements include:
Bachelor's Degree in Spanish, Foreign Language Education, or a related field.
Native or Near-Native fluency in Spanish.
Minimum 2 years of experience working with middle school students
