Position: Lower School Library, Media, and Technology Specialist: Maternity Leave Replacement

Job Summary We are currently seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual. The Lower School Library, Media, and Technology Specialist serves students and faculty in the Barat Center through Grade 4. This is a 100% position. Full-time teachers are expected to be in school from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Librarians are expected to alternate their schedules to ensure coverage in the library on Wednesdays from 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. The day that each Librarian covers will have hours from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Lower School Library Instruction
Plan and teach weekly inquiry-based library classes for all grades, Barat Center through Grade 4, fostering independence in learning and the skills of finding, using, and presenting information
Inspire an interest in books and a love of literature through reading, storytelling, booktalks, book clubs, author visits, summer reading lists, and other activities
Respond to individual reference and reading guidance questions posed by faculty, students, and parents
Lower School Technology Instruction
Plan and teach engaging technology classes for students in Grades 1-4, focusing on operational use, digital literacy, and computational thinking
Continue ongoing units of typing, digital citizenship, and robotics
Collaborate with homeroom teachers to aid in research for class projects
Administration & Collection Development
Manage and care for the library facility, equipment, and furnishings in collaboration with the Director of Library Services
Catalog and process new materials, as well as weed and shelf books
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field
Master’s degree in Library and Information Sciences or currently enrolled in an ALA accredited program, preferred
A minimum of 2 years as a librarian in charge of elementary library curriculum, preferred
A minimum of 2 years as a technology teacher in charge of elementary technology curriculum, preferred
Strong knowledge of library management systems and educational technology tools
A passion for fostering children's love for reading, empowering them with technology skills, and nurturing their creativity
Facility with and knowledge of technology, including online databases, Follett catalog, Google Apps, Scratch, VEX robotics, etc.
