Director of Innovation and Technology
The Director is an innovative, creative and dynamic leader charged with developing and implementing a strategic vision in all areas of technology and innovation for the school. He/she oversees best practices involving digital tools and seamless integration of technology into daily teaching and learning. Both a big picture thinker and a hands-on implementer, the Director engages with administrators, educators, students and parents to extend responsible and creative use of technology. The Director must be a strategic thinker with strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills, and the enthusiasm and credibility to create and sustain instructional momentum in the appropriate use of technology in the school’s curriculum and instruction. The Director reports directly to the Head of School.
Responsibilities:
To spearhead technology initiatives that support teaching and learning.
To develop, coordinate, and teach technology professional development workshops and classes available to school employees.
To communicate information about training services and technology research, including a monthly newsletter.
To communicate technology policies to the Dunham community.
To establish and maintain systems for educators to report technology issues and requests for equipment or assistance.
To review and report findings of discipline issues related to technology to division heads and dean of students.
To provide leadership, vision, and day-to-day management of the IT department, including data network and backup systems, firewall and security issues, data retention protocols, antivirus software, databases, servers, printers, camera, and telephone system.
To manage and create accounts for filtering systems, emails, online subscriptions.
To support Dunham Virtual Academy classes.
To assist in grants that include technology, innovation and STEM.
To manage and inventory all technology State grant materials and complete State reports.
To provide technical assistance regarding hardware and software applications.
To supervise, hire and annually review technology staff.
To develop and manage the school’s technology budget.
To oversee and ensure the security and efficiency of the network infrastructure.
To manage eRate.
To maintain a relationship with Apple, Inc., coordinate a yearly technology/innovation showcase and to negotiate Apple lease agreements.
To assist in the integration of technology applications across the curriculum at all divisions following a Christian framework.
To maintain the school's inventory of hardware and software.
To serve as a liaison of technology to the department chairs, division coordinators, academic and administrative teams.
To explore and research how to continue improving technology at Dunham and future plans for the program.
To develop relationships with various community leaders in technology, including vendors.
To network with local, regional and national innovation and technology directors at independent schools and within associations.
To model staying current with technological knowledge and skills.
To design and implement Lower School Innovation Night and Middle School STEM Night.
To work alongside the Admissions Director to design and implement Innovation lessons for preschool playdates and Open House and showcase technology in a positive light.
To write, share and model the curriculum for the Lower School Innovation Lab.
To work alongside the Middle School STEM teacher to ensure continuity from Lower to Upper School.
To write, share, and model the curriculum for Upper School Digital Innovations and Digital Creations courses.
To discuss curriculum with teachers to determine how to incorporate innovation and STEM.
To promote best practices in global connections, innovation and STEM integration.
To support the school and its leadership
To perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
Bachelor's Degree in Education Technology or related field, Masters preferred
