Location: French American School of Princeton (Pre-K through 8th Grade independent school in Princeton, NJ)
Schedule: Part-time — 24 hours/week Supervisor: Head of School Salary: $37,000/year Benefits: 401(k) matching program Starting Date: February 1, 2026 or mutually agreed-upon date Contract: September to June (paid over 12 months)
Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counselor to join our team and support the academic, social, and emotional well-being of our students. The counselor will work closely with students, parents, teachers, and administrators to foster a positive and supportive school environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide drop-in counseling services to students as needed.
Act as a liaison with external mental health providers and coordinate care when necessary.
Offer crisis intervention and support for students experiencing urgent emotional or behavioral challenges.
Implement and support in-class Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) programs to foster students’ emotional growth and well-being.
Lead or assist with in-class bullying prevention initiatives to promote a safe and inclusive school environment.
Conduct parent education workshops to strengthen the school-home partnership and provide guidance on supporting student well-being.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in School Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience working with PK-8 school-aged children preferred.
Ability to collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment.
French proficiency is not required.
