Marin Montessori School (MMS) is a highly regarded, mission-driven independent school serving approximately 265 students across two beautiful campuses in Corte Madera and San Rafael, California. With more than sixty years of educating Bay Area children and sought-after graduates, MMS is accredited by AMI and CAIS and is known for its deep commitment to authentic Montessori education.
MMS seeks an outstanding educator and leader to serve as Director of Education, Toddler & Primary. This senior administrative role oversees one Toddler classroom and five Primary classrooms and is a pivotal leadership position within the school. The Director works collaboratively with faculty, assistants, the Head of School, Admissions, Learning Specialists, and fellow division directors to cultivate an exceptional early childhood program grounded in independence, emotional intelligence, curiosity, and compassion.
This is an exciting moment to join MMS. The school recently launched a successful endowment campaign, raising $5 million to date, continues to experience strong enrollment interest, and has welcomed notable leaders such as Al Gore and Alice Waters as keynote speakers. MMS also extends its mission beyond campus through its companion parenting platform, Grounded & Soaring.
The Director of Education is responsible for educational leadership, staff hiring and development, program oversight, parent partnerships, admissions collaboration, and ensuring classrooms reflect best AMI practices. The ideal candidate is highly organized, warm, ethical, and process-oriented, with strong communication skills and a steady, grounded leadership presence.
To apply, please submit your cover letter and resume on our website.
Qualifications include significant Montessori experience with children ages 18 months to 6 years, supervisory and team leadership experience, and a bachelor’s degree. A master’s degree and AMI diploma are preferred.
