Garrison Forest School is seeking an experienced individual for a full-time position with the school as a Housekeeping Supervisor. This position will start May 2026 and reports to the Director of Facilities. The annual salary range for this position is $60,000-$70,000 based on years of experience and education level; the exact compensation will be discussed during the hiring process.
General Responsibilities
Performs supervisory duties in the care, cleaning and general housekeeping of the campus buildings; assists in cleaning assignments as needed; ensure that established standards are met. This position requires sensitivity for customer service and a demonstrated conscientiousness and pride in the cleanliness and appearance of the dorms, public areas and buildings. This position has the responsibility to provide the direct supervision and training of both in-house staff and contracted services in order to maintain the expected high level of cleanliness throughout all of the school facilities on a 24/7 basis. This position reports directly to the Director of Facilities.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain knowledge of state of the art cleaning products, equipment and techniques.
Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate and direct the Housekeeping Department.
Assist the Housekeeping staff in the development and use of the departmental policies, procedures, equipment, supplies, etc.
Make recommendations for the hiring and training of the Housekeeping staff.
Ensure that work areas are appropriately staffed and that employees have adequate supplies and equipment for completion of assignments; assist in distribution of housekeeping supplies.
Schedule in-house and outside contracted services to provide the coverage necessary during the day and for the overall cleanliness of the campus facilities.
Oversee and inspect the contracted overnight cleaners to ensure excellent cleanliness standards are being met.
Fill in as needed to ensure the level of cleaning is maintained on campus.
Conduct daily inspections of facilities to check the completion of work assignments; ensure that work performed meets established standards; record results of inspections; report concerns and problems to Director of Facilities.
Maintain housekeeping equipment; report any mechanical, structural, or electrical condition in need of repair or replacement.
Ensure that work orders for special events are assigned on a timely basis with follow-up to ensure that work meets established requirements and standards.
Develop and maintain written Housekeeping policies and procedures.
Develop and maintain written job descriptions and performance evaluations for each level of Housekeeping personnel.
Review the department’s policies, procedure manuals, job descriptions, etc. for revisions to recommend to the Director of Facilities.
Knowledge of OSHA and safety standards within the housekeeping department.
Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets for all Housekeeping related products.
Complete daily and weekly payroll for the housekeeping department.
Shop supplies through multiple vendors to ensure GFS is getting the best pricing.
