Position Summary
Assistant Director of Admissions, is a vital member of the Admissions and Enrollment team in a newly formulated office at DCDS. The Assistant Director will design and execute strategic recruitment activities and community outreach initiatives to strengthen enrollment at Detroit Country Day. This position will execute recruitment and admissions related activities in the middle and upper schools and participate in all school-wide enrollment initiatives. The Assistant Director will design a mission appropriate enrollment process that engages faculty, current students, and prospective students and their families. Assistant Director will also have a keen understanding of the strategic relationship between admissions activities, marketing, and financial aid in achieving enrollment goals. This is a full-time position.
Essential Responsibilities
Assist the Director of Enrollment Management and Financial Aid in building and executing a strategic recruitment and marketing plan to enroll mission appropriate students.
Serve as the primary contact for prospective families interested and manage all aspects of the admissions process.
Manage and record applicant information on our applicant database system.
Plan, organize, and facilitate promotions for in-person or virtual admission events (including events in the evenings or weekends) in collaboration with Directors.
Recruit, Train, and Manage student, parent, and alumni ambassador programs of DCDS to answer questions and provide testimonials to prospective families.
Develop and maintain relationships with feeder schools and community-based organizations.
Represent DCDS during school visits, tours, and external events including school fairs or athletic events.
Be connected to the school life and informed on our education philosophy and practices by observing classes and attending faculty meetings or other school events.
Conduct student interviews and family meetings.
Design and execute a mission-aligned admissions review process for prospective applicants.
Read and evaluate applicant files and serve on the Admission Review Committee.
Any other responsibilities set forth by the Director of Enrollment Management and Financial Aid.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree is required, masters preferred.
3-5 years of experience working in Admissions and recruitment, or relevant experience.
Knowledge of best practices in admissions and enrollment at independent schools.
Effective verbal and written communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
A champion of the DCDS’ mission with a deep commitment to equity and inclusion.
Goal-oriented and results-driven in a competitive independent school market.
Competent with technology; some experience with database systems preferred.
