Key Areas of Responsibilities:

Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:

• Develop plans and instructional materials to provide individualized and small group

instruction and adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student

• Maintain lesson plans and schedules as part of curriculum mapping
• Use a variety of instructional strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, discovery, etc.
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional and positive learning atmosphere in the classroom
• Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare narratives and report cards
• Communicate with parents through conferences, phone calls, and e-mail to discuss students’ progress and interpret the school program
• Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, behavioral, and learning challenges
• Maintain professional competence through professional growth activities, including training drills, and other school procedures
• Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day, such as recess, lunch, and breaks
• Participate in department, division, and full faculty meetings, and serve on school committees as required
• Attend divisional and school-wide required events (e.g. planning, Open Houses, conferences, etc.)
• Present a positive image of The Lexington School to the outside community, including social networking sites
• Other duties as assigned by the Preschool Division Head or Head of School

Supervision:

Directly reports to the Preschool Division Head.

This is a full-time position, 10-month teaching position Effective July 1, 2026.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in education, early childhood education, or other related field required.
• Kindergarten or lower elementary school teaching experience required.
