 Position Overview and Responsibilities 
 St. John&#8217;s Prep is looking for an experienced facilities groundskeeper. Reporting to the Managing Director of Facilities, the facilities groundskeeper ensures the upkeep, cleanliness, and improvement of all grounds, athletic fields, grounds equipment, and buildings assigned. 
 This position is considered essential. Essential employees, when called upon, are expected to be on-site during emergency situations, including but not limited to snow storms and severe weather. This is a full-time, hourly, second shift staff position; work hours are generally 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. 
 Responsibilities include: 
 
 Follow all St. John&#8217;s Prep policies and procedures. 
 Operate and maintain lawn mowers and sweepers as well as power equipment used in ground work (sprayers, pruners, and trimmers) to ensure they work effectively and safely. 
 Maintain flower beds and landscaping including laying bark mulch, weeding, edging, etc. 
 Set up for athletic events including preparing fields, opening facilities (gates, grandstands, restrooms.) 
 Maintain the appearance and functionality of all types of athletic and campus fields. 
 Inventory grounds equipment and supplies. 
 Maintain irrigation equipment and systems. 
 Assist other persons responsible for grounds at all school locations. 
 Maintain the building assigned for keeping storage supplies and equipment. 
 Take the initiative in proposing improvements to grounds, including lawns, shrubs, trees, flowers, seeding, planting, and landscaping. 
 Complete assigned work orders in a timely and complete fashion 
 Follow safety guidelines when performing all tasks 
 Partner to prepare rooms for events 
 Report safety, sanitary, and fire hazards immediately to supervisor 
 Interact thoughtfully and courteously with students, faculty, staff, and parents and resolve conflict in a professional manner 
 Attend work regularly and be punctual 
 Perform all other additional duties as requested

 Requirements:

 High school diploma required or General Education Diploma (GED) or equivalent combination of education and experience 
 Valid driver&#8217;s license and MVR required 
 Pesticide applicator license preferred 
 Previous experience working in landscaping or grounds keeping and athletic field maintenance required 
 
 Physical Requirements: 
 
 Standing/sitting for long periods of time. 
 Bending, lifting, pushing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, stooping. 
 Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. 
 Must be able to reach at and above shoulder height to access higher areas of equipment, etc. 
 Must be capable of adapting to frequent changes in position throughout the workday. 
 Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone. 
 Use of hands and fingers for manipulation, and using computer keyboard, educational tools, play equipment, and perform first aid and CPR. 
 Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.

This   part-time 20-25 hour/week, 12-month position supports daily facilities operations   through maintenance, basic repairs, janitorial support, campus safety routines, rental  support, event setup, IT assistance, and general operations.&#xa0; 
 Key Responsibilities&#xa0; 
 Facilities &#38; Maintenance &#xa0; 
 
 Identify and perform routine building maintenance needs and minor repairs (e.g.,   fixtures, hardware, patching) &#xa0; 
 Coordinate and oversee outside vendors brought in for plumbing, HVAC,   electrical, janitorial, etc. to ensure work is completed timely, on budget, and with   the proper permits &#xa0; 
 Install equipment and furnishings as needed (e.g. shelving, furniture)   &#xa0; 
 Monitor thermostats, lighting, and utilities for energy efficiency and stewardship &#xa0; 
 Support seasonal upkeep (e.g., snow/ice management at entry points) &#xa0; 
 Schedule and oversee routine inspections of facilities &#xa0; 
 Update and complete preventative maintenance schedules to proactively identify   issues and prolong the lifespan of the facilities and equipment &#xa0; 
 
 Campus Operations &#38; Janitorial Support &#xa0; 
 
 Conduct daily morning walkthroughs for safety, cleanliness, and readiness &#xa0; 
 On occasion, execute end-of-day closing checklist (lights, doors, systems,   equipment) &#xa0; 
 Support cleaning company in inventory/ordering, stocking and maintaining school   janitorial supplies (cleaning chemicals and supplies, soap, towels, toilet paper,   trashbags, etc.) &#xa0; 
 Respond to spills, accidents, or safety concerns promptly &#xa0; 
 Shampoo carpets and operate floor-care equipment as needed   &#xa0; 
 Oversee and support summer facilities staff to assist with larger in-house facilities   projects and deep cleaning. &#xa0; 
 
 Safety &#38; Security 
 
 Escort vendors/contractors on campus when required &#xa0; 
 Address any safety and/or security issues that may arise due to weather, fallen   trees, broken equipment, etc. &#xa0; 
 
 Rental &#38; Event Support&#xa0; 
 Support external rental usage by: &#xa0; 
 
 Coordinating with the Auxiliary Programs Manager for access, setup/breakdown   needs, and building maintenance &#xa0; 
 Conducting pre- and post-rental walkthroughs(on occasion if necessary)   &#xa0;Reporting damages, needs, or safety concerns &#xa0; 
 Assist with internal school events and assemblies as needed &#xa0; 
 
 Deliveries, Storage &#38; Logistics &#xa0; 
 
 Receive deliveries and transport items throughout campus &#xa0; 
 Assist with storage organization (including attic/basement access)   &#xa0; 
 Perform regular lifting and movement of supplies, equipment, and furniture &#xa0; 
 
 Transportation Support (Basic) &#xa0; 
 
 Collaborate with bus drivers to maintain the school&#8217;s small fleet of vehicles by   completing minor repairs internally (changing headlights, etc.) and coordinating   regular external maintenance &#xa0;

 The School Custodian, under the general supervision of the shift supervisor, maintains a clean, safe, and functional environment by performing cleaning, minor repairs, and event support duties. Key responsibilities include daily cleaning of floors, restrooms, and classrooms; managing trash disposal; performing light maintenance such as changing lightbulbs and unlocking doors; and assisting with event setups or groundskeeping tasks such as light snow removal. This is a full time hourly, second shift staff position; work hours are generally 2 to 10:30 pm. The role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and commitment to safety protocols for both staff and students. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.
