The Social Studies Department of Colorado Academy seeks candidates for the position of Upper School Social Studies teacher. This is a full-time, ongoing appointment consisting of advising, four teaching sections, and participation in Interim, our weeklong experimental education program each spring. The position begins in early August 2026.
We seek candidates with strong academic training and demonstrated ability to teach and develop a robust and innovative curriculum. Candidates with specialized training as an Americanist or Globalist should indicate this, although the ability and willingness to teach across both areas of study is required of all department members. Specific graduate training in History or a related field is preferred.
Candidates should have experience guiding students through content, research, and analysis, emphasizing critical thinking, and be able to teach and conduct discussions in a student-centered way. As important, we seek a candidate with a demonstrated passion for exploring how the social sciences intersect—and a track record leveraging this passion into effective practices which encourage students to think creatively, engage with ideas deeply, and lead with intellectual curiosity.
Candidates should be eager to join a professional community where collaboration is valued and where openness to growth is the norm. Upper School faculty share in the day-to-day life of the school community, including serving as Advisors and Interim leaders. Excellent interpersonal skills are required, as is demonstrated intercultural competence, which is the ability to understand and bridge diverse perspectives, identities, and lived experiences.
Faculty are expected to carry out the mission of CA, "Creating Curious, Kind, Courageous, and Adventurous Learners and Leaders," to support the vision of the Upper School, and to contribute to the life of the school outside of the classroom.
The pay range for the position is $64,900 - $116,900 for the 11 month position term. Although this is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting, Colorado Academy reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. Any wage differential that may exist for the position does not relate to sex, gender or gender identity, but relates solely to a seniority system, a merit system, or relevant education, training and/or experience.
