As a Middle School Bible and World Religions Teacher, you support Westminster’s commitment to developing the whole person—academically, spiritually, and personally—through a dynamic, inclusive and academically rigorous curriculum. Rooted in the School’s Christian identity, this position requires a deep understanding of the Bible as a sacred, historical, and literary text, and the ability to guide students in thoughtful, age-appropriate exploration of faith, identity, and spirituality.
As a Middle School faculty member, you’ll teach and learn alongside ninety colleagues who embody the same intellectual curiosity, wholesome intensity, and creative spirit as our students. As part of a Professional Learning Community, you’ll meet in teams to design lessons, create assessments, share ideas, and innovate for the future.

Supervisor: Head of Middle School
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Position Status: Salaried, exempt, full-time, 10-month
Work Hours: Typical hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Some weekend and evening work may be required.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach four sections of Exploring the Bible
Co-teach a 2-week immersive, interdisciplinary class during MayATL
Teach and support students as part of the Homeroom advisory program
Work directly with other Middle School teachers as part of a Professional Learning Community
Contribute to the larger school community through coaching or sponsoring other extracurricular programs
Other duties as assigned

Enthusiasm, flexibility, and a cooperative spirit
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; talk and hear; engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The ability to become CPR, AED, and First Aid Certified is required.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and may frequently walk on slippery or uneven surfaces. The noise level in the work environment is often loud.
Westminster is a drug-free, smoke/vape-free campus.
TRAVEL
Travel is primarily local during the regular business day. Overnight and out-of-area travel may also be required and is associated mainly with planned events, conferences, and professional development opportunities.
Driving a Westminster vehicle will be required for this position.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Undergraduate degree in a related field or discipline. Two or more years of Middle School teaching experience and an advanced degree preferred. Master’s Degree in Divinity and/or ordination in a Christian church preferred
Deep understanding of the Bible as a sacred, historical and literary text
Familiarity with major world religions
Ability to engage students in age-appropriate, respectful, and inclusive discussions about meaning, interpretation, and relevance
Ability to guide students as they explore questions of faith, identity, and spirituality in a supportive environment that encourages curiosity, respect, and reflection
Commitment to helping young adolescents from diverse backgrounds and experiences connect the study of the Biblical texts and other world religions to their own lives, fostering critical thinking, personal growth and Westminster’s commitment to equity, inclusion, and belonging
