The Lovett School seeks an enthusiastic and innovative Middle School Science Teacher to inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of scientific inquiry in our students. This role offers the opportunity to engage young scientists during a transformative developmental stage while contributing meaningfully to our vibrant middle school community. Reporting to the Middle School Division Head, you will develop an engaging curriculum, employ diverse instructional techniques, and actively participate in the collaborative life of our school.

What You'll Do

Ignite Scientific Curiosity

• Develop curriculum materials including course outlines, syllabi, and other instructional resources that engage, inspire, and challenge students
• Carry out all responsibilities associated with teaching your assigned classes, fostering critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques, including meaningful use of technology, to reach diverse learners across a range of abilities
• Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness to different learning styles, ensuring every student can access and excel in science

Support Student Growth

• Conduct before- and after-school tutorials as scheduled to provide targeted student support
• Develop an atmosphere of trust where students feel known, valued, and challenged as individuals
• Ensure students adhere to The Lovett School behavioral guidelines while maintaining a positive, engaging learning environment

Collaborate with Purpose

• Participate actively in regularly scheduled department, faculty, team, interdisciplinary, and grade-level meetings
• Work in a collaborative learning community that values growth mindset, shared expertise, and continuous improvement
• Contribute to interdisciplinary connections that help students see science in broader contexts

Engage in School Life Beyond the Classroom

• Be actively involved in the life of the school outside of the classroom through athletics, clubs, activities, or other community-building roles
• Fulfill additional duties as assigned, contributing to the vibrancy and mission of our school community

Who You Are

Your Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in a related field with a strong background in biological and/or physical science (required)
• Master's degree or higher preferred

• You employ a variety of instructional techniques, including meaningful use of technology, to engage students and develop their critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity
