General Summary: Severn School is searching for a Long-Term Substitute Teacher for Upper School Digital Art and Photography for March 30 – May 26 of 2026.

Essential Functions: This position covers an extended teacher absence and requires maintaining continuity in curriculum, instruction, and classroom management while supporting student creativity and skill development. Specifics about the role:

• Deliver instruction in Digital Photography, guiding students in camera operation, exposure settings, and editing with Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom Classic.
• Teach Graphic Design projects using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Canva.
• Lead Darkroom Photography lessons, including film development, chemical mixing, and printing using 35mm cameras and enlargers.
• Supervise Yearbook production through Jostens Yearbook Avenue, ensuring continued progress on the Spring supplement.
• Instruct 9^th grade Visual Arts Principles, facilitating projects in Photoshop, the darkroom, and Illustrator.
• Serve as an advisor to a group of 9^th grade students.
• Communicate regularly with students, staff, and administration to ensure a smooth transition during the long-term assignment.

Qualifications: The successful candidate will have experience with Adobe Creative Suite and darkroom processes. Teaching experience, certification, or eligibility are preferred. Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills are a must.
