Salary Details:
Pay rate based on years of experience and educational credentials. All Assistant Teachers work in our Extended Day Programs (EDP) until 5:30 p.m. each school day, which results in overtime compensation that significantly increases the overall earnings for this role.

4 Year Degree
We are looking for an aspiring educator who is fluent in Spanish and passionate about working with gifted learners compelled by the school’s mission and committed to leading an inquiry based, conceptual, and hands-on programs. Mirman teachers support differentiation in our students’ curiosities and passions with cross-curricular integration. Teachers are also engaged in regular collaboration, curriculum development, and pedagogical reflection.
As part of the professional faculty, Assistant Teachers create a flexible and dynamic elementary classroom environment and program favorable to learning and personal growth for highly gifted children; establish effective rapport with students, parents, and colleagues; nurture passions andtalents of students; develop each child’s skills, attitudes and knowledge needed in a strong foundation for elementary grade education in accordance with each student’s ability.

Some prior experience teaching in a classroom
Experience working with highly gifted children in Lower School (Grades K-4) preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong proficiency with technology and an ability to use technology (Google Suite) effectively in the classroom including
Strong work ethic with a growth mindset and the ability to learn new skills quickly
First Aid and CPR training required (training provided if not currently certified)
Valid CA driver license and clear criminal background investigation
Mirman School opened its doors to educate gifted children in 1962. Motivated by a deep love and concern for these children, Dr. and Mrs. Norman J. Mirman began the school with nine pioneering students in their West Los Angeles home. Today, with a newly expanded campus serving all dimensions of childhood, Mirman School is a thriving and diverse community home to 430 students. Our Community
Mirman is made up of students and their families, a dedicated and passionate Parent Service League, and a Board of Trustees made up of community leaders. In the Lower School, lead teachers are supported by Associate Teachers in every homeroom, while Upper School teachers specialize in disciplines such as English, science, Latin, Mandarin, History, etc. Dynamic specialists in science, STEM, technology, math, art, music, choir, theatre and more round out the fabric of our faculty. Mirman is also home to a collegial and collaborative group of administrators who work to facilitate the ideal teaching and learning environment.
