AIM Academy is excited to announce the opening of an Upper School Math teaching position for the 26/27 school year. AIM’s Upper School is an innovative and collaborative environment where teachers have smaller than usual caseloads so they can focus on the individual needs of students. Faculty in the Upper School enjoy both autonomy in many facets of their classroom, but also supportive structures to employ key research based practices for the instruction in numeracy, strategy, fluency, problem solving, and productive reasoning. Upper school math courses range from Algebra I through Calculus. Though candidates who are most experienced at one end of the math continuum will certainly be considered, we are looking for candidates who can be versatile in the courses they teach.
The department is supported by a department lead teacher, and a team of speech language pathologists, and very knowledgeable administrators. An ideal candidate will have experience teaching math to students with language based learning differences like dyslexia and dysgraphia as well as working with students who may have processing or attention issues. The ideal candidate will also understand how to marry explicit instruction with a college preparatory scope and sequence. Those with specific degrees or training in our niche field are highly desirable, but that is not required. AIM’s Institute for Learning and Research will provide a myriad of opportunities for professional development.
Because AIM is dedicated to creating a culture of equity and inclusion, candidates should value engaging in open dialogue, questioning, confronting assumptions, and attuning to all voices. Please review AIM’s Equity and Diversity Statement online.
At AIM Academy, our hiring process reflects our culture, ethics, and core values: Care for Others, Creative Problem Solving, Commitment to Excellence, and a Can-Do Attitude.
