About Us Saint George’s School (SGS) is an independent K-12 school serving approximately 330 total students (approximately 120 in the Lower School) in the greater Spokane area. SGS offers an engaging academic program and a diverse array of enrichment opportunities. Students enter the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program in grades 11-12. Position Overview
We are seeking a 0.6 FTE Lower School Physical Education Teacher to join the SGS community.
Essential Responsibilities
Create a safe, respectful, learning environment which enhances the well-being of each student and inspires them towards lifelong fitness.
Facilitate the development or revision of curriculum and instructional materials.
Utilize different strategies to meet students’ skill levels, learning styles, and social/emotional needs.
Develop programs that encourage leadership, problem-solving, and team building.
Incorporate movement-based lessons utilizing skill progression from basic (locomotor) to more complex skills.
Work closely with other classrooms and colleagues in cooperative efforts.
Effectively communicate with colleagues and parents/guardians to maintain an open, positive relationship.
Participate in professional development activities, such as college course work, workshops, professional associations, and in-service opportunities.
Attend all required staff meetings and other activities deemed necessary outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Previous elementary (K-5) teaching experience is essential.
Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree.
State teaching certificate required (Washington or other); degree or endorsement in Health/Fitness, PE or Health preferred.
Passion for teaching elementary students.
Excellent communication skills.
Energetic, flexible, self-starter, and a commitment to participate in the full life of the school.
