Tenacre Country Day School is seeking a lower-grade design technology specialist for the 2025-2026 school year. Tenacre’s mission is to nurture and challenge each child, every day. Design Technology Specialist
At Tenacre, we want our students to experience technology instruction that develops skills in logic, sequencing, programming, and design thinking, while also focusing on mastery of software and hardware tools. The Design Technology Specialist teaches two technology classes per week for each grade level from Pre-K through Grade 2. This role also involves supporting students as they use technology to demonstrate their understanding in homeroom activities and interdisciplinary projects. Beyond providing direct instruction, the technology specialist will have opportunities to design new curricula and participate in overall program development.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required
Experience teaching technology at the early elementary school level
Ability to design and facilitate project-based and challenge-based curriculum
Demonstrated proficiency with both design thinking and various digital skills, including block programming, digital drawing, audio and video recording, and stop motion animation.
Ability to promote a positive learning environment that includes behavior management techniques appropriate to the needs of students in grades Pre-K-2
Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities:
Facilitate and inspire student learning
Develop innovative lessons to challenge 21st-century learners
Plan, develop, and execute lessons for age-appropriate academic technology skills, programming and coding, and design thinking
Teach internet safety, including personal responsibility for technology use
Collaborate with the Director of Design Technology and another design technology specialist as a department; work with colleagues in other disciplines; integrate lessons with existing STEAM curricula
Assist in implementing technology in Pre-K-2 classrooms
Write student reports
Participate in related duties such as recess and lunch supervision

Tenacre School is a small, co-educational day school for children in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade Six. Our mission is to "nurture and challenge each child, every day." Tenacre enrolls 194 students in Pre-Kindergarten through 6th Grade, and has a teaching staff of 35, including special subject teachers for science, Spanish, art, technology, library, music, P.E., and Spanish. Tenacre also has resource teachers for reading and math to maintain small group learning. Supporting the operation of the school are the academic, admission/enrollment, business, and development offices.

All staff are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities throughout the year, from community service projects with students, or acting in an annual faculty/staff play, to talking with the students about a hobby or trip during an assembly, or even attending "tadpole graduation" with third graders in the spring!
