General Description
We are seeking a .75 FTE Interim Mandarin Teacher to serve students in Grades 1–8 within our World Languages program for the remainder of the school year during a colleague’s leave of absence (March through June 2026). Mandarin and Spanish are taught as living languages within a Waldorf framework, emphasizing oral language, movement, music, storytelling, and cultural experience to meet students developmentally. The interim teacher will bring clear, age-appropriate expectations, warmth, and steady presence, while collaborating with colleagues to support a cohesive and rhythmical language program across the grades.
Teaching Responsibilities
Preparation for classes (including preparation/clean-up of the classroom as necessary)
Constant evaluation of student progress
Discipline during class
Preparation of a syllabus for the students
Daily attendance
Provide a narrative evaluation for each student at the end of the year. The narrative evaluations are to be turned into the office one week after the end of the year.
Recess supervision
Subject Teacher meeting attendance
Parent conferences
Remote/online teaching may be required.
Qualifications
Waldorf Teacher Training
Bachelor’s Degree
Enthusiasm and flexibility
Professional personal presentation
Singing and proficiency with an instrument would be an asset
Compensation
This is a .75FTE position. The full 1.0FTE annual salary range is $67K - $95K, depending on training and experience. Salaries are paid on a 12-month schedule.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Be able to occasionally lift to 30 lbs.
Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including heat and cold
Regularly sitting or standing 4-8 hours
FLSA Classification:Faculty; exempt from overtime

San Francisco Waldorf School (SFWS) is an independent, co-educational, non-sectarian school providing education from Kindergarten through Grade 12. The school is fully accredited by the Western Association of Colleges and Schools (WASC) and by the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA).
