Kingswood Oxford is seeking a Middle and Upper School Instrumental Music teacher who is passionate, innovative, and collaborative – an educator who models a growth mindset and is committed to equity-focused pedagogy. In addition to having a strong educational background and teaching experience in Instrumental Music, successful candidates will be technologically savvy, have experience with curriculum design, and model best teaching practices. Candidates should also understand the importance of involvement in the community, student engagement and empowerment, ongoing professional development, and authentic collaboration with other faculty and staff to advance the school’s mission and strategic vision.

Curricular Expectations
The ideal candidate will have experience teaching instrumental music and directing ensembles. They will integrate real-world applications, student choice, and community/industry connections to enhance the curriculum’s relevance and impact.

The position includes:

• Teaching five sections across band, orchestra, and jazz
• Directing instrumental ensembles for major school performances throughout the year, including signature Middle and Upper School events
• Advising a small group of students

These duties will be determined in discussion with the Department Chairs, the Head of the Middle School, and the Head of the Upper School.

A quick note about COVID and the 24-25 school year. Kingswood Oxford has worked hard to establish and maintain health and safety protocols that allow students to learn in person. Courses are taught on campus and a COVID-19 vaccine mandate (with certain exemptions) is in effect for both students and staff.
