The Team
The Upper School Academic Resource Team works collaboratively with teachers to support student success. The team consists of an US Academic Resource Coordinator, grade level learning coaches, and learning coach support personnel.
The Role
We are seeking a versatile, dynamic, and forward-thinking educator to serve as an Upper School Learning Coach. This person will support all learners by partnering with the academic resource team and the Upper School leadership team to guide both curricular initiatives and innovations as well as student support services. Versatility and openness to innovative instructional practices are essential. Availability to sponsor athletic, artistic, or academic teams/clubs is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Inspiring, modeling, and mentoring faculty members in designing learning experiences
- Collaborate with the Upper School team and schoolwide learning coach team to build and model innovative instructional approaches and student support services in the Upper School program
- Coordinate and communicate student accommodation plans to faculty; support implementation of instructional strategies and accommodations; closely monitor student progress in an effort to provide recommendations and interventions
- Streamline transition between Middle School and Upper School for students with accommodations, connecting students with the proper support systems; provide transition packets outlining student support agencies and services available at the colleges where students have been accepted
- Facilitate standardized testing and extended time needs
- Launch Return to Learn concussion protocol in collaboration with the Upper Campus Nurse and Athletic Trainer to support and monitor students with mild to severe concussions
- Design and provide meaningful instruction in executive function skills and study strategies courses using a variety of research-based and innovative teaching methods
- Participate in co-teaching experiences with teachers and facilitate small group, differentiated instruction
- Build teacher capacity by collaborating and coaching, pushing into classrooms, and planning sessions
- Showcase effective, proactive, and timely verbal and written communication with students and families pertaining to a child’s progress and needs as well as general information
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and outside providers to support students’ individual needs
- Maintaining comprehensive records of performance, progress, and goals using MV tools
