Maryvale Preparatory School seeks a strategic, relationship-driven advancement professional to serve as Associate Director of Institutional Advancement. This role is responsible for advancing Maryvale’s leadership annual fund, legacy, and campaign giving efforts through thoughtful donor engagement, exceptional stewardship, and collaborative fundraising strategy.
The Associate Director manages a portfolio of leadership donors and prospects, cultivates meaningful relationships across all constituencies, and plays a key role in strengthening Maryvale’s culture of philanthropy. This position also oversees stewardship of endowed funds, leads Maryvale’s Legacy Giving program (The Trinity Society), and supports the planning and execution of the school’s capital campaign efforts.
Reporting directly to the Director of Institutional Advancement, the Associate Director works closely with the Head of School, Board of Trustees, Advancement colleagues, and key volunteers to secure philanthropic support that advances Maryvale’s mission and long-term priorities.
This is an exempt, full-time, 12-month position.
Primary Responsibilities:
Major and Leadership Giving
Serve as a frontline major gift officer, managing a portfolio of leadership donors and prospects through all stages of the fundraising cycle: identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual fundraising goals established by the Director of Institutional Advancement.
Conduct an agreed-upon number of meaningful donor visits annually.
Collaborate closely with the Maryvale Fund Director to align leadership and annual giving strategies.
Draft compelling proposals, solicitations, and donor communications in partnership with the Director of Advancement Communications.
Support and prepare the Head of School, Director of Institutional Advancement, and Board of Trustees members for donor engagement and solicitation.
Represent Maryvale at key institutional events and donor engagements; support all Advancement events, including evenings and weekends as needed.
Stewardship and Legacy Giving (The Trinity Society)
Lead and grow Maryvale’s Legacy Giving program, identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding planned giving prospects.
Coordinate the negotiation and documentation of planned gifts in collaboration with the Director of Institutional Advancement, ensuring proper written agreements are secured.
Manage stewardship for donors associated with named endowment funds, including impact reporting, financial summaries, student communications, and donor recognition opportunities.
Oversee stewardship and compliance of donor-restricted gifts, ensuring alignment with donor intent.
Stay current with planned giving trends and best practices through professional development and collaboration with industry experts.
Cultivate relationships with attorneys, financial planners, trust officers, and other estate planning professionals to support legacy giving opportunities.
Capital Campaign Leadership
Partner with the school’s capital campaign leadership support campaign strategy and execution.
Oversee day-to-day campaign operations, ensuring alignment with established goals, timelines, and benchmarks.
Support and guide volunteers and leadership in donor cultivation and solicitation efforts.
Plan and execute campaign-related events, including donor receptions, cultivation gatherings, and community engagement opportunities.
Provide timely and accurate campaign progress reports to leadership, boards, and the campaign committee.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required; minimum of five years of progressive fundraising experience preferred, ideally in an independent school or nonprofit setting.
Demonstrated success in major and leadership gift fundraising.
High-level proficiency with advancement technologies, including Raiser’s Edge or a similar CRM, DonorSearch, and Microsoft Office 365.
Strong alignment with and enthusiasm for Maryvale’s mission, values, and school community.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy, discretion, and attention to detail.
High degree of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Collaborative leadership style with a commitment to teamwork and shared success.
Willingness and flexibility to attend evening and weekend events and occasional travel.

Salary is commensurate with experience and degree earned and ranges from $75,000.00 to $90,000.00 annually.
