Summary & Description: The mission of Brooks School is to provide the most meaningful educational experience our students will have in their lives. Established in 1926 in the town of North Andover, Brooks provides an all-gender, college preparatory program for 350 students on a 270-acre campus overlooking Lake Cochichewick. Brooks School seeks a highly qualified head coach for the girls varsity soccer program for the fall season of 2026 (Position is seasonal but Full time teaching opportunities may be available). The ideal candidate is a clear communicator who champions student voices and growth, makes community-informed decisions, and has the ability to partner with various members of the school, including parents, faculty/staff, and more. The coach’s philosophy should align with the values of the School and of the Independent School League (ISL). The league states that: “All ISL coaches must be firmly committed as educators to teaching not only competitive skills but also the attitudes necessary to achieve the highest standards of respect and sportsmanship articulated by the league.” The ideal candidate will be a genuine “school person” who leads by example and chooses to engage in the many aspects of student life even outside of their stated responsibilities. We especially welcome candidates skilled in culturally responsive educational practices dedicated to fostering inclusivity and creating a sense of belonging within our campus community.

Travel This role does require travel for away games.

Primary Responsibilities: ? Direct the training, conditioning, and performance of the girls’ varsity Soccer program Monday through Saturday during the season (early September through mid-November). ? Lead and supervise the varsity assistant coaches and collaborate with coaches of lower teams on topics of technique, training plans and player placement, and development throughout the season. ? Foster among the participants and spectators an appreciation for the values of athletics, a desire to perform at the highest level, an attitude of good sportsmanship, and a sense of pride in self, team and school community. ? Attend all ISL and NEPSAC girls’ Soccer coaches’ association meetings. ? Work together with the athletic department in the development of the team schedule, budget and coaching needs of the girls’ Soccer program. ? Assist in the college placement process for student athletes. ? Attract student-athletes and families who value community and challenge, and who will make positive contributions to the school. ? Possess and maintain a coaching philosophy that is in accordance with the mission of Brooks School.
Required knowledge, skills, and experience: ? Coaching at college, high school varsity, or high school aged club level for 3+ years. ? A strong commitment to the student-athlete concept. ? Strong technical and tactical understanding of Soccer. ? Energetic self-starter in addressing all details of leading a competitive high school program. ? Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. ? A valid driver’s license and ability (or readiness to learn) to drive school vehicles. ? Pass a background check and other references, as needed.
