Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Support Teacher to join our K-8 Student and Teacher Resource Team. This role focuses on delivering small-group and individualized academic support in literacy and math. The ideal candidate has a strong instructional background, experience analyzing student learning data, and the interpersonal skills to work closely with students, faculty, and families.
This role is integral to our support system, helping students close learning gaps, guiding classroom-based interventions, and partnering with teachers and families to promote success. This position reports to the director of the Student and Teacher Resource Team and works in collaboration with the director of general studies and director of Jewish living and learning.
Direct Student Support
Provide targeted small-group instruction in reading, writing (including mechanics), and math across K-8.
Stay informed about current best practices and legal requirements in education.
Use assessment data to implement and adjust interventions.
Support students with assistive technology, executive functioning, and study skills.
Collaboration & Consultation
Partner with classroom teachers to plan and deliver academic support.
Guide classroom-based intervention strategies for struggling students.
Participate in regular student data meetings to assess progress and problem-solve.
Advise on accommodations, differentiation, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
Planning & Resource Sharing
Dedicate weekly time to:
Analyzing student data and identifying intervention strategies.
Collaborating with teachers and assistants to implement supports.
Recommending and sharing resources.
Following up on teacher inquiries and individual support plans.
Contributing to strategic, student-centered academic planning.
Family Communication
Maintain regular, clear, and compassionate communication with families via email, phone, and meetings.
Provide updates on student progress and home support strategies.
School Engagement
Attend school events as a visible, supportive presence.
Model school values of respect, inclusion, and collaboration.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in education or related field required
Master’s degree or certification in special education, literacy, or learning differences preferred
3-5+ years of relevant teaching or learning support experience (K-8 setting ideal)
Strong foundation in literacy and math intervention strategies
Experience using assessment data to plan and evaluate support
Familiarity with UDL, assistive technology, and executive functioning tools
Excellent collaboration and communication skills
Commitment to equity, inclusion, and diverse learners
