The Lawrenceville School seeks an exceptional clinical leader to serve as Medical Director, joining a leadership team dedicated to creating an environment where students, faculty and staff thrive. Located in central New Jersey, close to the capital of Trenton and the university town of Princeton, Lawrenceville is a highly selective residential school for students in grades 9-12 and postgraduate students. Lawrenceville’s endowment, which exceeds $725 million, enables the School to sustain its commitments to House, Harkness, Heart, values which guide academic and campus programming. The new Medical Director will play a leading role in shaping Lawrenceville’s approach to the overall health and wellbeing of the student community.
Reporting to the Assistant Head of School/Dean of Students, the Medical Director is a full-time faculty member and member of Senior Staff.
The Medical Director provides leadership and clinical oversight for the School’s medical, counseling, sports medicine, and health administration services. The Medical Director also serves as a member of the School’s Senior Staff and interdepartmental Wellness Team, providing strategic leadership for the systems and initiatives that promote health and wellbeing across this uniquely diverse and close-knit community. The next Medical Director will be a forward-thinking problem solver who will continue to advance the School’s wellness efforts. The Medical Director’s values, energy, temperament, clinical and interpersonal skills will align with the community’s needs and inspire confidence among all stakeholder groups.
Requirements
MD/DO required
Board Certified in an appropriate specialty such as Adolescent Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, MedPeds, or Sports Medicine
Licensed or eligible to be licensed in New Jersey
Ten years of professional experience caring for adolescents and minor emergency care skills are preferred
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Clinical and administrative oversight for all functions of the Al Rashid Health and Wellness Center which is open 24/7 during the academic year and overnight summer camps; it includes an 18-bed infirmary and is staffed by
37 employees, 14 of whom are full time, including 19 nurses, 2 nurse practitioners, 4 mental health clinicians, 3 athletic trainers, an x-ray technician, and administrative professionals.
Work collaboratively with Senior Staff and faculty, particularly Heads of House and academic and administrative offices
Lead in reviewing and assessing Health and Wellness policies and procedures; advocate for revisions that better fulfill the School’s mission
Maintain a relationship with local health officials and serve as a key consultant for any policies and protocols pertaining to overall school community health and any emergent threats.
Compensation and Benefits
Eligible employees receive a competitive benefits package that includes health insurance coverage, retirement plan options, and many other valuable programs. The Medical Director will be provided appealing housing near campus and a generous tuition remission program for high school age children at Lawrenceville or other independent schools. The Lawrenceville School qualifies as part of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Compensation is targeted at $200,000-$230,000. The housing benefit is worth ~$50,000.
