Position Summary: We seek an experienced teacher with a strong track record to co-teach Middle School/High School French and Humanities in French. The successful candidate will be committed to a conceptual, inquiry-based approach to teaching and learning, fostering critical thinking, student-driven exploration, and interdisciplinary connections.
In this co-teaching role, the teacher is responsible for collaboratively creating and maintaining a positive, respectful, and safe classroom environment, in alignment with UNIS’s Teaching and Learning Policy and Professional Conduct Guidelines. Together with a teaching partner, the teacher will manage classroom dynamics and deliver high-quality instruction while ensuring all students are treated with dignity and respect.

This position reports to the Middle School/Tutorial House Principal and the Director of Modern Languages.
Key Responsibilities:
Co-teach French and Humanities in French for Middle and High School students using creative, differentiated instructional strategies.
Collaborate with colleagues and administrators to design child-centered curricula that challenge students socially and intellectually.
Establish active communication with students and families.
Supervise students during non-instructional time and attend curriculum and grade-level meetings.
Promote and model respectful, inclusive, student-centered practices, and support classroom management strategies that foster a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment.
Assist in maintaining a calm, organized classroom that supports student well-being and academic growth.
Perform other duties as assigned in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (e.g., supervision, office hours).
Skills & Qualifications
Experience teaching French in a K-12 educational or child-centered environment is essential, with familiarity or expertise in the Responsive Classroom Approach.
Experience with best practices in assessment and reporting preferred (e.g., Standard-Based Grading and Reporting)
Strong communication skills, oral and written, and the ability to adapt messages to specific audiences, requiring different levels of detail.
Demonstrated commitment to promoting respect, equity, and student dignity in all interactions.
Proactive, positive team player who is curious, inventive, open-minded, flexible, and resilient.
Compensation $67,745 to $111,974, commensurate with years of experience as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (salary is prorated for part-time or temporary positions).
