 Position Title: Lower School Associate Teacher 
 Germantown Academy is an independent, coeducational, college preparatory day school located on a beautiful 126-acre campus in the Fort Washington suburbs near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The school serves more than 1,200 students in grades PK-12.  Position Purpose:  We are seeking candidates for a full-time Associate Teacher (AT) position beginning August 2026. This is a 10-month teaching position with an excellent array of benefits and a competitive salary. The AT supports the classroom Lead Teachers in planning and teaching curriculum and facilitating assessments with students.&#xa0; The AT is required to plan, prepare for, and lead small group instruction with students, as well as lead whole group lessons with direction from the Lead Teacher.&#xa0; The AT is responsible for supporting all aspects of the program. 
 Key Responsibilities: 
 
 Attendance from 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., in addition to occasional required professional commitments after 3:15, including faculty meetings, Back to School Nights, parent-teacher conferences, and other classroom commitments that may extend beyond these hours 
 Work in tandem with the Lead Teacher(s) to establish and promote a professional, consistent, and positive classroom climate consistent with the GA Community Commitments and GA Mission 
 Assist in the preparation of the classroom 
 Assume supervisory duties to ensure the safety and welfare of all students 
 Prepare lessons and materials within an existing classroom curriculum framework 
 Teach various components of the program, including leading small group math or literacy lessons, throughout the day as scheduled 
 Consult with the Lead Teacher when the Lead Teacher is absent from the classroom, in order to take on the lead role, as needed 
 Monitor and communicate student progress to the Lead Teacher 
 Assess and return homework and classroom assignments (e.g. assist in the editing and revision of students&#8217; written work; confer with students regarding writing assignments, offering suggestions for revision and improvement) 
 Extra-Curricular Activity (ECA) requirement: As part of the annual employment commitment at GA, Associate Teachers are required to work in the after school program (SPARK) one day/week until 5:15 pm for which they will receive additional compensation. 
 
 Qualifications: 
 
 4-year college degree required; degree in elementary education preferred 
 Experience working with elementary-aged children 
 Strong oral and written communication skills 
 Strong collaboration, organization, problem solving, and decision-making skills. 
 Strong work ethic, attendance, and punctuality 
 Strong skills in using technology to support communications -Google apps, Microsoft Office, web-based applications 
 Strong aptitude for learning educational technology to support student instruction-iPad applications, Google Education workspaces, digital media 
 Strong interest in professional growth and development
