Emma Willard School, 9-12 independent school and nationally recognized leader in girls’ education, invites applications and nominations for the position of Head of Advancement.
Building on more than two centuries of pioneering excellence in women’s education, Emma Willard seeks an accomplished advancement professional to lead an experienced team and a thriving culture of philanthropy. Following the tremendous success of Infinite Horizon: The Campaign for Emma Willard School—the largest known campaign for an independent girls’ secondary school in American history—this is an extraordinary moment of opportunity and momentum.
With the arrival of our new Head of School, Dr. Karen Lassey, in July 2025, Emma is embarking on an exciting new stage in its development. Our new Head of Advancement will craft the next chapter of philanthropic growth at Emma, partnering with Dr. Lassey, our highly engaged Board of Trustees and our inclusive community to ensure Emma continues to flourish well into its third century.
This is an exceptional opportunity for an advancement leader who is passionate about the power of education and eager to help shape the future of one of America’s most historic and forward-thinking schools for girls. The Head of Advancement will have the chance to steward a vibrant community of supporters while leading initiatives that will grow Emma Willard’s endowment, deepen the engagement of alumnae and parents, and secure transformative resources for generations to come.
We seek someone with expertise in navigating today’s changing philanthropic landscape and will help the School promote and nurture diversity, equity, access and inclusion. The School encourages candidates from under-represented groups and individuals who have demonstrated experience working with diverse populations and who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.
An excellent remuneration package commensurate with the importance of the role and the education and experience of the candidate will be offered. The salary range for this role is $275,000 - $325,000.
